Diversity-approved 20 somethings will be replacing them in about 60 days in Rejuvination Program.

sounds like the American idol breakout approach. one room gets to keep their jobs, one room gets axed, and the other room is offered reduced pay and bene's.

Save all the files and emails you might need going forward. Just in case.
Like the poster said above, try and save everything and update your resume. That's usually not a good sign when they have company wide meeting in separate rooms. I place I worked for just shy of seven years, sequestered half the employees in one room for "security reasons" and told them that there were immediate layoffs taking place. The other half which was where I was, was told to either dial into a conference or show up to another room and that's when the axe dropped on us. I had a feeling it was coming though when the company had been sold to a private equity company and usually that means that massive layoffs come shortly after.

Yep. Your company is laying people off. If they AREN'T, then they are being jerks by making all of you nervous. But, yeah, a layoff is happening. Fridays are the target days for stuff like this to let people cool down over the weekend and thus hopefully preventing any violence.
Job market is good...if you are laid off, go get another one.

Yup. Been thru this before. Happened almost the same way except on a Thursday. Two different rooms. One room everyone kept their job. Other room everyone was let go basically immediately. Nothing more I can add other than: "hope you are in the get to stay room".

OP, any update. I know the meeting isn't until 4:30, but have you gathered any clues throughout the day? You need to be keeping us posted. This thread is BS.
OP here. They actually split us up into different teams to do something called a "Ragnar Relay" in which the two losing teams get axed. I have no interest in doing this, so I'm quitting before 4:30.
My room got pink slips and 6 weeks severance pay :(
The other room got 20% raises for the next 18 months while they transfer knowledge to a team in Bangladesh
