Harvard women run "B" team at HYP's, Princeton men don't show up - the death of rivalries in sport?

If you reward beating up on trash teams then everyone will just hold their own invite for the local C-tier D1 schools.

Maybe, but under this system teams that don't race other quality teams (teams that qualify for regionals) won't be able to get at large bids. Essentially leaving it up to getting an auto bid. I realize it's not perfect, but it does create value for the regular season.

“Overall, the team is pleased with the showing. We raced a light group, and have yet to fold in about half of our healthy runners,” [Tyler] Spear said. “We’re excited to see how the team does on Friday at the Battle of Beantown and especially once we start to get into the groove of racing during October and November.”

So they admit they ran their B-team and that they are focused on the rest of the season.

Well, how many healthy runners are there that did not race?

I know I'll get flamed for saying this but what kind of fool transfers from Harvard to Oregon? You mean to tell me that Oregon was not courting her when she was a high school senior? Something brought her to Harvard in the first place, I would have thought it was being the most prestigious university in the world, but I guess running comes first for her?

I was wondering where they transferred to. When Bill Bowerman was still the head coach at Oregon, Ric Rojas (4:11 high school miler in 1970) told him that he had been offered a full scholarship to Harvard. Bowerman's response: "You'd be crazy to come to Oregon."
