I am not native either but have lived in CO for almost twenty years. Colorado has always been a gathering place for transplants. However, in the past majority of transplants came in their early twenties, adopted a work for the weekend lifestyle and became part of the community. I.e, ski Abasin, root for the Broncos, maybe buy a hunting shack up in the mountains for a someday project.
Now, hordes of forty and fifty somethings from all over the US are buying douchebag townhomes in Stapleton, flooding Coors Field to cheer for the Cubs, and telecommuting to work for some company that has absolutely nothing to do with Colorado.
The recent front range populution surge and explosion in home prices really hasn't done anything for most long term residents other than make traffic ridiculous and pretty much everything more expensive while wages have remained flat.
Also, I'm pretty sure Adam Goucher and Emma Coburn would disagree with the poster who says native born Coloradoans are fat and lazy.
