My son is going on a few official visits. I am not going on the ones that he has to fly to but may attend ones within driving distance to meet the coaches briefly.
Do the coaches always discuss scholarship on the meeting right at the end of the visit? Should parents be there for that meeting or would coaches rather only talk to the athlete? I think I could help my son with the scholarship discussion but don't want to be viewed as a helicopter parent that could be viewed as a potential problem. Is it common for coaches to give low ball offers at first? Any advice on how to find out the schools actual best offer is?
My son can get a full from low D1 but probably just walk on for P5. The schools in the middle is where we are really unsure. The schools are very academic so there won't be academic money available.
