I am 57 and have been running for 40 years. Here is my problem.
I have many days when I have no energy to run. I get out the door and my energy for running is so low that my running speed and walking speed are almost the same.
I manage to get in quality workouts. I have found that running 2 hard days in a row is the most effective.
This past weekend on Saturday I ran a 3 mile tempo and on Sunday I ran a 2 hour slow run. This Wednesday I ran 10 x 400. On my easy days I try to run but often end up walking. I don't think I am over-training because even when I run relatively easy I have a hard time running several decent days in a row.
2 questions. Is it better to walk or to do nothing?
How about stationary cycling as an alternative to running on my
off days?
