Sounds about right. If the weather is good, maybe even in the 2:05s. I have to think this was marathon pace.
No pollen issues? No mask? Was the course pre-Rupp certified?
MAGA
I'm in philly and saw them near the bridge just before the 10 mi mark. Rupp looked a bit stressed. In comparison, despite the heat/humidity, Hasay did not look at all distressed. She looked under control and in a zone as if on her way to a 2:22 marathon. Yes, my view only lasted all of 30 seconds, but that was the impression I got.
My guess is that their game plans were to go for it if you feel great, but otherwise go into marathon race pace and get in a solid tempo.
BTW the heat and humidity is nasty - everyone on the course looked drenched.

I'm here for the Boots on the Ground.
exactly...no way he runs 2:06 or 2:05....if he was going to do that he should have run 59.
for all of you on here who suck down everything Retardo Canova says, then how can you say rupp running "pace" for a half is going to help him out? now he needed to go hard, f*ck 3 weeks to recover? and he goes and does a "training through tune up" bullsh*t....no my guess is he was running about 90-93% effort and he will run a 2:07 high at best but more likely a 2:09 low
but yeah he was running "chill" at 62 pace so that means he is going to run 2:05? riiiiiiiigggght

mark my words at best rupp does 2:07 high, more than likely i see 2:09
If Rupp does run a 2:09, Droddy might give him a run for his money.
How does the weather factor into today vs the likely marathon weather? If you are going to project times based on today, you really should consider the temp, humidity, course profile, etc.

Go learn something about running, idiot.
Still very early but current long range forecast calling for overnight low of 52 in Chicago with a daytime high of 65. So prob not perfect conditions but certainly better than philly. I'm calling 2:07 low for rupp.

+1
Rupp will "crank" another 2:10; finishing top 3.

For starters, Chicago is in 3 weeks. I'd like to see the list of runners who have ever broken 60 3 weeks out from their marathon. Hell within a month of their marathon.
But if you have a list, post it.
Yuta Shitari ran a 60:17 at Ústà nad Labem (Czech Republic) yesterday, and he is running Berlin, so just 8 days out. This is guy who debuted in Tokyo this year, going out sub-62 and holding on for a 2:09:27.
Supposedly he is going for 2:07 in Berlin; guess we will see if you can run a really fast half that close to a good marathon.
I know earlier this year Karoki ran 59:10 at Ras Al Kaimah, about 2 months before his marathon debut in London (2:07:41 ... but pretty sure he was 1:01:30 or so at halfway). It seems many of the Kenyans and Ethiopians run a half a month or two out from their marathon, but I'm pretty sure sub-60 for those are rare ... never mind going that fast 3 weeks or less out.
Guys like Kipsang, Kipchoge, G. Mutai, Makau, etc who all have 59-low half PRs seem to run more in the 61 range before their marathons, or at least that's how I seem to remember it.
