Apparently Merber broke 4:00
Apparently Merber broke 4:00
Merber won in 3:59, Dunbar was 4th.
what time did dunbar run?
RS has top few guys results
It was quite windy, 17 mph at the nearby weather station, blowing into the runners on the front straight. You can see them slowly substantially upon hitting the front straight, especially on laps 2 and 3. Temperature was perfect at about 57.
58 Doug Benson (pacer), Nick Harris, Dunbar, and everyone else
1:59 Benson (dropping out), Harris, Dunbar, Heath, Blankenship, Alexander, Merber. Dunbar takes lead with 600 to go and pushes hard into the headwind on the front straight.
2:59 Dunbar. Alexander takes the lead from Dunbar with 250 to go, followed by Blankenship on the inside and Merber on the outside. Blankenship passes Alexander with about 60 to go, then Merber goes by Blankenship.
Note. The title of this thread was initially, "Does anyone know if Trevor Dunbar and friends went sub four tonight in Anchorage, Alaska?"
Anyone know?
LetsRun update. Here are the results.

Here are a couple of newspaper artiles on the series. They are giving out prize money for each race plus in a cool twist to who has the best time over the two races.

^^^this is an awesome idea. Pro track needs this to keep races honest.
Now that Alaska is checked off the list. Any other states yet to have the 4 minute barrier broken?
Merber should never leave Alaska!, NEVER
Is there any reason to think that any animal ever ran sub 4 in Alaska before this?
I are the dogs going sub 4 in the Iditarot?
Ahh thus begins the yearly cycle of obscure races run by b-tier elites trying to stay relevant while we all wait for the pro events to circle back around.

What a sad life you must live
This is the main problem in America, focusing on meaningless accomplishments, and over committing to it, but can't compete worth s h i t on the world stage.

You are 100 percent correct, sir.
Sled dogs run 26 miles in 90 minutes at the North American Sprint championships every spring. That's 3:25 to 3:30 pace.

I was 7 seconds off being the first person to break 4 minutes from Florida, I don't know if anybody has done it yet
This is probably not accurate. All the folks that have been chased and eaten by bears; there is probably somebody who's gone sub-4 before this.
