I touched on this on a related thread, but perhaps it's its own separate subject.
I have been running weekly mid-week marathon pace runs - 10 miles, then 12 miles, then 14, and today 16. (At 7:09/mile)
My marathon is on the first weekend in November, and I am at 65-70 mpw right now.
Should I continue to do these mid-week runs at goal pace? (I'm shooting for 3:10 and a safe BQ time at age 40.) A friend says I'm at risk of overtraining and it takes a good three weeks to recover from a hard long run.
