I'm currently 4 minutes under the qualifying standard. That should be pretty safe, right?
I know that historically the cutoff time has been between 1min - 2.5min below the standard.
Any guesses as to what the 2018 cutoff time will be?

why don't they just make the qualifying time 5 min faster for everyone? I really don't understand that.
I don't really understand the qualifying process anyway. The qualifying standards are fairly respectable for hobby joggers, yet every year there are thousands of fat asses on the course slogging out 5-6 hour marathons. Like how did they get into the race but a 30 year old who ran 3:04 did not?
Raised $7500 or they got in through their club. I had the same thought though when I was in Falmouth for the FRR this year. Once again I was not selected as part of the lottery but my wife was. As we were walking back to the car past the 10K timing mat and then the 6 mile mark I couldn't believe the amount of walking going on. At first I just felt bad but then I was fired up that these people were walking 7 miles when I had to sit on the sideline watching them labor toward a 2 hour finish.

20% of the field are charity bibs dude.
I just BQ'ed minus 19 so I don't give a fuk op!

Masters runners - the times are semi-arbitrary and not based on actual age graded times
Charity runners, about 20% of the field get in by raising money for charities

Minus 55? What's your age?
Sounds like a fast woman!!!!
I think it'll be lower than normal this year. Somewhere around 1:15-1:30
I propose: $75 entry to anyone with a semi-respectable time, maybe 2:40 guys, 3:15 ladies. $750 entry for anyone slower but still under the "qualifying standard" and $7500 charity for everyone else. Remember, actual elites are already generally getting free entry.
Nothing sadder than someone saying "I qualified for Boston but didn't get in!"

Well, the Jerk Store called, and they're running out of you.
If you miss the cut-off, you can always blame Mexico City.

I was 22 minutes under time but have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in ever running Boston so your chances are at least better by one.

BQ - 4:30 is my guess. People that ran in 2014 will want to do it again.

No chance. The biggest qualifying race is Boston, and Boston was hot AF this year. A lot of people did not re-qualify at Boston.

Over 8000 requalified at Boston this year which was only 900 fewer than the year before.
http://findmymarathon.com/mostbostonmarathonqualifiers-2017.phpI think the time it will take to get in will be the same as last year. 4:30 waaaay too high.
That link you posted with # qualifiers doesn't include C.I.M! No way C.I.M. 2016 wasn't a top 25 qualifier. Garbage in, garbage in.
didn't have NYC or Chicago either.. you know why?!? Because the damn races haven't happened yet. Those are the 2017 races to date...
