I was at a 5k the other day (I know, hobby jogger, road race, blah blah blah, but it's an easy $100 running store gift card) and this lady was going on to her male friends about how she could beat any man who challenged her and that a 24 minute 5k is elite. I wanted to butt in and call her out on her ignorance but I just walked away steaming. How should I deal with these people!!??

Just in case anyone was wondering you can directly compare male results to female results in a somewhat fair fashion using age grading. Every time you hear somebody begin an argument about their age or gender making them more competitive you can directly fact check them. Also, in case you are around the same age and just don't have time to properly research their BS, you can approximately follow the rule that there is a 10% dropoff between men and women in performance. Example: Men's WR in marathon is around 2:03. That's 123 minutes. Take 10% of that and you have about 12 minutes. Add 12 minutes to 2:03 and you get 2:15, which happens to be the female WR. Bam. Use the 10% rule.
