Just bought a pair of Nike Zoom Fly. Noticed that the profile of the rocker sole is exactly the same as my old Hoka Clifton 2. So.. maybe Hoka knew what they were doing, or something. Who knows.

Pics or it didn't happen.
No problem, except how do I post a picture?
The only similarity is the stack height and cushioning. From there, the Zoom Fly has a plate inside that acts like a lever and actually makes you more efficient, thus faster and easier to run. Meanwhile, the Hoka will have you sinking into the midsold and working harder to generate force off the ground, hence making you less efficient and slower at the same effort. I have run in all 4 versions of the Cliftons and was a fan until I ran in the Fly. No contest if you want to go the same pace with less effort. And to race even faster, the vaporfly 4% takes it up another notch with a stiff plate for even better lever effect. I'm loving both and can't see ever running in another shoes that isn't made this way.
bump
my clifton's are nearing end of life. been use them solely for faster longer runs. thinking i want to try the zoom flys, but the feel of that plate is freaking me out.

I loved the original Clifton. The Zoom Fly and Vaporfly is what the original Clifton should have evolved into, instead Hoka turned it into a heavy, cushioned monster.
I really dislike Hoka for ruining the Clifton. But I'm grateful that Nike stepped in and filled the void.
Skechers beat them both. The first and second GoRun Ride shoes were the same profile, lacking only the plate. And they both felt faster to me than the Hokas.
I guess we'll just have to wait a few weeks until Skechers releases a Zoom Fly copy.
