Vapor Fly worth it over Zoom Fly?

If money isn't an issue why not both?

I agree with the poster above. Get both.. use the Zoom Fly for speed work, tempo runs, and race pace leader my runs.. use the Vaporfly for races.

The Vapor Fly is worth every penny. It could easily command even more $. Seriously. It's great. Unlike anything else. Every other brand must be copying that shoe right now.

Don't waste your money on the Zoom Fly. It's mediocre and uncomfortable. Go for the Lunar Elite or Zoom Streak instead.

Haven't work the 4% shoe yet, but the Zoom Streak is a great flat!

Two different shoes. Vapor Fly for NYC. Buy it when it comes out again on the 24th. You have the cash, buy it.

I wear the zoom fly for every day runs both recovery and long. Can't imagine doing speedwork in the high offset and squishy shoe. It feels like a full cushioned trainer to me but also very light weight.

I have both. Will wear Vaporflys for December Marathon, just ran a 20k in them and liked them quite a bit. Cushion and springing feeling stays throughout the run. Have a pair of the Flys I like as well, wear them for runs with strides as well as some long runs. I think Vapors are worth it if you can manage to get your hands on a pair.

Yeah, I have to agree. The Zoom Streak is outstanding. I had a pair of Zoom Fly and Vaporfly 4% and returned both of them and bought a collection of Zoom Streak, Lunaracers and Speed Rival 6. All of which I prefer.

It's personal preference. I know a few people who have the Vapor/Zoom fly and just prefer the feel, but don't get all uppity about how fast they are (or claim they're faster). I prefer a more minimal shoe.

There was no magical improvement in pace either with the Vaporfly 4%.. it did have a lot of cushion, however.

I second this. I got the Zoom because I couldn't get Vapor. I saw zero improvement in my time. They look similar but I don't think they're the same shoes. Zoom had tons of cushioning that I didn't feel the pavement but did not see the 4% improvement. Over short distance, I ran faster in regular Nike flats.

Been alternating both shoes- Vaporfly's are definitely faster and lower heartrate. Zoom Fly's are more durable though, so I've been doing the bulk of training in them. Both are worth having and have made it easier putting in the miles. Getting the sizing right is important- I normally have to go up 1/2 size in Nike flats, but this made the Zoom Fly's feel awkward. Got true-to-size and made a world of a difference. I got true-to-size in the Vaporfly's but feel like I could go down 1/2 size cause of the wider toebox-very soft/bouncy.

Is it true that the vaporfly wears down pretty quickly? Anybody used them for a decent amount of miles?

I have the Zoom Flys. I've only put minimal miles in them, but they feel pretty jazzy. Very stiff shoe. There is an unusual rocking motion in the shoes just at the base of your toes. Takes a little while to get used to.

I'm going to keep them. Contemplating running a marathon in them in November.

I wear the Zoom Fly for daily training and they are the best trainer I've worn in a long time. The responsive cushioning and high offset keep my Achilles from flaring up. I just wore through my first pair and will be picking up another pair.

I have the Vaporfly as well and they are definitely worth the extra cost. I plan to wear them in my next marathon.

I bought a pair of zoom flies as a backup/trainer after racing in the vapor's. They're still like shitty bricks. Not terrible when you get up to speed, but nothing like the 4%.

How do the Streak 6 and Speed Rival 6 compare? I'm using the Streak 6 as my daily shoe (45-50mpw) and love them but only get about 300 miles before the uppers start to tear. Is the Speed Rival any more durable? It's slightly heavier so I'm assuming it may have a bit more cushioning, which would probably be beneficial for my long and easier runs. It looks like the offset is 8 versus 10mm, so negligible.
