I have been on a Ketogenic diet for just over a month.
Lost 25 +/- pds (very rapidly).
Enjoying diet.
I am quite out of shape, due to hip replacement, however:
1.) Cycled 163K three days ago, without preparation. Longest ride prior was 70K.
Typically, in other years, I would ride several times in advance around 100K - 130K to get used to the time-in-saddle.
No bonk, no sense of bonk coming, no cramps. Just sore in the back and shoulders due to not being used to sitting in the saddle that long (7 hrs+/-).
Took no gels, no gus, no bars or anything to do with CHO - two water bottles with water and electrolyte mix.
Felt I could have gone another several hours.
Had hip replacement nine months ago, so again badly out of shape, but running uphill doesn't hurt, so I run up small mountains.
2.) Lactic acid comes spewing on marginal effort uphill, so that must be related to the apparent dampened V02max that happens on a keto diet.
Might introduce some more healthier carbohydrates soon so I can run uphill without feeling like I am racing...see if that works.
Feel satiated all day.
