I agree Obiri should win this race because she is way better than the rest in the field. However there is one athlete I am curious about. Beatrice Chepkoech who just ran sub 9 steeple in Zuric is in the field. Is she in the race to pace Obiri (she has pace Ayana before and she is great at it) or is she debuting the distance. Either way her presence in this race will this race will greatly impact the outcome. Maybe Obiri is attempting the WR with Chepkoech as second pacer to take her to 3000m or longer? Will wait and see.

1500m Kipyegon should run 3:53 - 3:54 for the win. She has had some rest after world's and will out kick Hassan and destroy her the last 100m.

The steeple chase? Consensus had an injury before world's and might not be ready for sub 8 yet. Jagger could thereforestation win this one.

The Shot was today and some dude named "Darrell Hill", from the US, who I'm fairly sure I have never heard of, won. And set a MR.

Honestly I dont follow SP much, but I thought I had at least heard of all the contenders.

Kipruto was injured, but I think worlds proved he is still in great form. I'm liking El Bakkali over Jager based on his preformance at worlds.

Kipyegon should be able to run a FTW 3:53, but a 3:55-3:57 winning time is more realistic and probably what will happen.

Hopefully the 3000m in Birmingham was an off race and Obiri goes for the wr here. At worlds, after the really slow first kilometer, Obiri ran the next 4k in 14:05 pace, and had enough left in the tank to run a 60 second last lap while easing up the last 50 meters. She probably can challenge the WR, and I really hope she goes for it.

However the pacemakers seem to have trouble with the steeple. Does anyone remeber earlier this year when they went out in 7:40 pace before droping to 8:10 pace at 2k? Hopefully the pacemkers do their job.

I completely agree. Jager is very good, and should have a sub 8:00 to his name, except he weirdly fell over after the final hurdle, but now Kipruto and El Bakkali have come onto the seen

I think Bakkali has a ton of potential and was simply better than Jager on that day, and I think he might so it again here, but I think Kipruto is on a level closer to a prime Kwemboi.

No, more like 3:58 for kipyegon. Obiri won't even be close to a wr. Kipruto in 8:02.

Any idea if the meet is offering a WR bonus and how it is structured if more than one goes under the existing WR

I would assume so, exspecially since the WR was mentioned in the press confrence, but I can't find anything online.

I personnally think the Diamond League itself should offer a wr bonus, and bonuses for fast times in general, so athletes are encouraged to run fast rather than boring tatical races.

Wait, one if the biggest meets in the world right now may not offer world record bonuses? What has the sport come to?
