Mileage is whatever is enough to feel good in workouts: 60-100.
Long tempos early on, some just to run strong, some to really attack. Intervals with short rest or moderate running for recovery are the early season speed work. Faster intervals with longer rest later in the season. Fartleks when the training load has been high and runners need to recover. Maintain the strength with late season tempos. Long runs every week.
Keep in mind, that also describes 25 of the NCAA qualifying teams.
