I totally agree. For one thing nobody normally runs with both arms forward. And does not usually have a hand wrapped around the arm of one runner, and a hand simultaneously on the arm of the other, while running. It was like a kid trying to break through the line with a push-them-aside move. Now I have never run a 13:06 5000 let alone a 52 final, so I imagine with low brain oxygen it's hard to make rational decisions when one wants to win and feels they have the energy but not the space. But that does not allow the person to grab the one arm, the rule, and the other arm, the officials' interpretation of what happened, and push through. I think the Edris part may have been incidental more than the reason. Like Chelimo lots, but improper move it was. I watched frame by frame from the front view and it's painfully obvious why he was a DQ.
No Edris was never going to catch Farah. If Chelimo had of been a decent position 200m back he may have had room to be in a position to strike earlier and he probably would have won. He keeps trying to come from too far back and get blocked by other runners near the end. I think he is the best 5k runner in the world now though.
Farah still would've won. If you watch the vid in slow-mo Chelimo never touches edris as he starts to fell.

Fresh legs and Mo wins - no surprise for me.
Sorry Rojo, Edris wasn't better in London, just fresher
no
edris is clearly bigger kicker than mo
it was obvious the instant he entered last lap in lane 2 he was screwed & wouda needed an absolute miracle to win
he nearly pulled off miracle !!!
i estimate edris ran about 5+m more than mo on last lap !!!, which is 2+ strides
edris screwed up the tactics & shouda been in pole at the bell
if he had, i expect him to have won easily by at least 1 full stride
mo did decide at the right time to quit 5k, because edris is a bigger kicker & mo is never going to "Komen" out a race from gun to kill off edris's kick, so it woud be silver/bronze from now if he stuck to 5k
10k is different as they don't have kick to beat mo & woudn't hammer it gun-to-tape to kill him off
don't know much about him. but all this talk got me to watch the finish. geesh. doesn't seem like he did anything wrong. someone tripped in front of him. and now it's his fault? seems odd to me.
Well... everything you say is completely wrong so...

That has to be one of the best track photos ever for a 5000.
And a 13:06 at that.
Chelimo would have won the race had he not screwed up tactically. all this bs in his post race interview about needing to be stronger. he was strong enough to win the race yesterday, but he didn't because he got himself boxed in, once again.
solid talent but needs to learn to put himself in the mix earlier
guys guys guys, you've got it all wrong. Had Chelimo not push Edris, Edris would still have fallen and Mo Farah would still come out victorious. In all honesty, Chelimo would have won had he not been boxed in with 100 to go.
Look at Edris' left hand in the photo...it is on Chelimo's leg for support. Chelimo helped Edris who impeded him! The DQ is for Chelimo's left hand.
After watching the finish 5 - 6 times, I conclude that Edris was rigging and would not have won.
But man he put on a great show! Mo was flying when he came into the stretch, quite a burst. But Edris dug deep and got rolling, but was hitting the wall just before the tape. Mo was slowing too, but not as much.
Can Chelimo improve his tactics a bit? If so, then he's the best in the world next year.
When bae grabs your thigh 😠😠😠ðŸ˜
The DQ is legit, sorry to see Chelimo lose out on lot of money, but you simply can't do what he did. But, now, we all see why I actually picked him to win the 5k at the Olympics. Mo is a great champion, the GOAT in my mind. Mo has run a lot of races in the last 2 weeks, most athletes in his situations would be dodging the competition, but he went right into the belly of the beast. It is rare that an athlete's last race helps solidify his legacy...he went out a winner against the best competition on the planet.
Not only is Chelimo not at fault, but he also potentially could have won the race if he had not been cut off. It seemed as though he had a gear Mo, and Edris did not.
Actually Chelimo got boxed in by Barega about 150m out. Certainly poor tactics from Chelimo because it was to late then to back off and sweep wide around corner. Look at the last 20m though. And look at the lane Edris is running in with 80m to go. Outside of lane 2. That left a huge gap for Chelimo to move into which Edris notices and with15m left and swerves right across into lane one and into Chelimo. If anything the incident was caused by Edris moving over so suddenly. Chelimo probably put his hand on Edris to stop falling over himself. Anyway still very poor tactics from 220m out by Chelimo.
Garbage they were side by side over the last 100m and Farah outsprinted him.
You just hate all British runners.
Photo shows what an a**hankie Paul Chelimo is.
That's our military?
Sad.
- Agree
- Chucklehead Chelimo ... WCAP's 'Sad Sack' or maybe "Gomer Pyle."
