I was just looking at what their team had plotted on the Garmin track:
Oh well, what it could have been.

Hey, why can't they stick to that route? Those running the marathon tomorrow will be in bed at that time...would be just a few tourists out and about, yes?

Cinder says ETA at City Hall steps is 6-9 PM. The route in NYC will be the eastern bike path and not down Broadway as Pete K did.
Well hopefully, depriving Sandy that extra special opportunity to take it past THE Time Square is something she will not end up regretting the rest of her life. (sigh)
this is amazing, no? wrote:

The mileage is almost identical. The main difference is no traffic lights along the bike path. Crossing over to Central Park and then down Broadway (Pete's Route) has a lot of stop lights. Broadway is much more scenic to run along. The tracker might stop uploading breadcrumbs along Broadway as Pete's did last year--too many blinking electric signs.

But the media opportunity on the original route would be ramped up by several factors, no? (Doubt Mimi would have ignored that, lol). And at walking pace (by that time), she could probably time the traffic lights, right?

Why need a tracker at that point? Doubt anyone will have trouble finding her if she sticks to Broadway. Pull out the video-cams and smart-phones and film it for any necessary documentation.

She is currently streaming from the park directly behind City Hall. That fountain is the giveaway.

The tracker and cellphones did not work from Central Park to City Hall. Only Boots on the Ground knew what were Pete was. Online followers lost the video streaming signal until just before Pete reached City Hall. The tracker was a lost cause.

You have made it this far...

Really? Maybe the technology (cell coverage) has upgraded since then? Cinder is right there. Maybe she can go over to Broadway and see if she can Live-Stream from there now?

The tracker is not necessary at that point. Film it all. And if the LiveStream drops out during the "March On New York", please upload recorded coverage of the World Record conclusion after the fact.

+1
Yes, pretty please? Can someone record and upload the last one-two hours, right up to City Hall, and upload to youtube? We don't know at this point how eventful it might be.

Once Sandy reaches the GW Bridge I won't provide any splits. If someone starts live streaming they will stop sooner. The only thing that matters then is miles to go.
Unfortunately, last year the video stream of Pete's final miles was not provided. A posting of a video of the end is a great idea.

This is where Mimi's pro videographer could come in handy, lol. I would load it up, if I was there.
If someone starts live streaming EARLIER the SPLITS will stop sooner.

Why is that?
Uh, oh...the last mile has been slow (walking?). Is the emotion and fatigue getting to her?
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
