If I was coach Dave, I would let Sandy have a half mileage day tomorrow as a rest day since the Mimi danger should be over now.

Can't wait for the film, and I thought 'Chariots of Fire' was good, perhaps Marvelous Mimi's could be called 'Chariots of Mire'.
Sandy's doing well, and might as well keep doing what she's doing.
I see no reason to drastically change her routine, and every reason not to.
Just to reiterate:
RE: Sandy Vi runs across America 10/14/2017 9:36PM - in reply to So far today
As an older runner, with many more miles under my belt than Mimi, I honestly consider this whole endeavor as the ultimate folly for any athlete who is a year out from a major knee surgery, at any age, much less at 55. In no way is her run inspiring, since she clearly is desperate and not pursuing running as a sustainable healthy lifelong enterprise. Sandy and Pete epitomize the right way to do this, in the right spirit of a healthy challenge, only highlighting the disastrous course that Mimi has charted and stubbornly refuses to alter.
I only hope someone in her crew can bring her to her senses, but I have a feeling that any horse with sense rode out before this even started.

Some kind of summary: OCT 16th End of Day
Added average miles per day
Mimi: 40 days
Remaining distance: 673 miles
Sandy: 36 days
Remaining distance: 1044 miles
Sandy: 1044 / 58 miles = 18 more days
1044 / 17 days = 61.4 miles a day ~ possible with big last day
Mimi: 673 / 18 days = 38 miles
673 / 17 days = 40 miles a day
Possible scenarios depending on hypothetical eventualities.

Yes, I agree with you completely.
My sister met Sandy yesterday! The route through Iowa passes close to my sister's home, so she's been watching the live tracker for the past couple of days. Yesterday the tracker was getting closer and closer, until it suddenly stopped just two blocks away from her house.
My sister thought maybe something had gone wrong, but after a bit she walked down the street and found an RV parked there with some "very friendly" people milling around outside. She explained why she was there, and they suggested she go inside the RV to say hi. She caught Sandy in her pajamas just as she was preparing for sleep. One of the volunteers took a photo of the two of them together, and then my sister hurried out so Sandy could get some rest. She said Sandy seemed a little tired for some odd reason. :-)

It will take the Marvellous one a long time to recover from any new damage her knee has been through. Will she ever be able to run again? Does she even care?
I've found a 6-minute video from Oct 11 of Mimi walking with Jim McCord from the USA Crosses Facebook group as he interviewed her. There is no running in the video. In it, I counted that Mimi is walking with a cadence of about 130-135 spm. Still zero evidence that she has ever hit a 190-195 spm cadence that her own watch data says she does the vast majority of her time in.

Bad logic since Sandy started 4 days after Mimi.
Interesting post on Sandra's Facebook page with details about how her team got together to put on this run, as well they are doing a raffle with prizes. Looks like Sandra is finding the marjority of her transcon from her own savings and it is estimated it will cost around $30,000 in total:

Also, Coach Dave has pictures and a video on his Facebook showing him with Sandra:
How interesting that a thread initially about Sandy became the greatest threadjack of all time by Mimi (the corrupt), and now begins to look as if it is heading to the greatest possible celebration of Sandy's gumption and integrity.

Didn't Trasie Phan from Phan Sports Marketing say Sandy's run would cost $90,000?
Why is it so much cheaper now, since Tracie is not part of the run?

How exactly is making up the 4 days bad logic???
When you have a professional crew of 5 people who are paid $1000 a week, the going rate for professionals, it adds up fast. In Sandy's case 8-9 weeks, $40-45k in crew salary before fueling any machines. So go out there, put your life on the line on a shoe string budget and then go back to your day job after your world record. Nevermind that it cost $8K for Guinness to review your documents in 5 days. If you want it to be done free, don't hold your breath, it could take over a year as it has for another record/Gold Standard maker you all love. Kudos to anyone who can get it done for $30k. Question is, if you are being sponsored, aren't they paying money to market their products ?
Sandy would need to make up more than 4 days to get there first, as her course is longer. The only way that would happen is if Mimi drops out, or drastically reduces the daily miles they report.

Ahem, if Mimi gets to NYC City Hall first she breaks the WR first. Even if Sandy tops it Mimi still set a WR.
