So in taking down the statues, the mob is doing the bidding of the top Confederate General?

Clever, but a moot point.
Lee said that over 100 years ago. He did not own slaves and opposed slavery. He fought for the south only because he could not go against Virginia.
The people who are always "offended" will not stop with these monuments. they will be the same ones lobbying for participation trophies, letting the video games babysit their children, and wanting every teacher fired that disciplines their child.
I'm glad I grew up when I did, where parents spanked me, and the seniors stuffed freshmen into lockers.
Toughen up pu$$ies.

No monuments for the Civil War last place finishers.
I do believe this is correct. I don't see this stopping at monuments. I hope I'm wrong.

Completely false.

Lee's family owned slaves. It would be like if the lease on the family car was in your wife's name.
Lee espoused some anti slavery rhetoric; but ultimately he chose Virginia over the Union. He went to war to defend "states rights" which became an issue when states rights supporters felt the instituions and future of slavery in the US was threatened.
History should not be viewed jn a vaacume. Lee was a genuinely good leader and tactically sound general...and he choose to fight to maintain slavery in the south.
Maintaining civil war monuments of confederate soldiers and generals in my mind is akin to celebrating what they fought for...any rational individual knows they fought for slavery.
I would be OK with all the monuments to the Confederacy being collected and maintained in a collection that places them in their historical context; which was the Jim Crow era of the South. They are relics of oppression.
They should not be maintained in parks or public spaces. Such spaces should be reserved for art more eblematic of democracy and equality.

Well you can continue to believe this is correct, or just read the post right after yours. My guess is that no amount of facts will change what you believe.
