Best of luck to Serena from a NoVa fan.
Props and best wishes to Serena, but what her and Gabe's condition has shown us is that cancer in early stages doesn't seem to seriously impact running performance. In fact Gabe was apparently running PRs with a metastasizing tumor.
As a long time running fan I would say that it is remarkable what she has done post-surgery from cancer in 2010. People don't realize that they removed part of her hamstring and outer connective tissue in her leg. If you look at a photo of her running you can see a literal long indention in her leg. She was never supposed to run again past jogging according to the medical experts.
She has had one of the most under-rated careers in US female distance running history. Four times under 2:30 in different marathons and 10th and 11th place finishes in the World Championships among many other great performances.
Just because you overlooked it doesnt mean others didnt. Check your narcissism and ego at the door please.
Synovial sarcoma...That's some scary sh!t! It is a very aggressive form of cancer that people lose limb and life to. This is very sad to hear it has returned and I hope she beats this.
