He just ran 1:48 in a losing effort. Pity to see such a bright star imploding before our very eyes.
Imploding? Well then, you must never have had an injury or a bad race.
It isn't likely that he is "imploding."
Murphy may have pulled because he bombed in his first race post-USAs on Thursday against a B-level field in Sopot:
800 m

2 Michał Rozmys POL 13 Mar 95 1:47.68 « »

Wrong decision. He should be doubling.

I feel like editing the first post was probably sufficient. You didn't need to also post again here.
Anyway, maybe his injury hurt during that race. Or maybe he signed up for both, planning to do the second if he didn't feel fully healed at the first, but only do the first if he felt like he could do it.
After a handful of weeks of no running followed by a few weeks of slowly building back into training again, I don't think a 1:48 is that bad if it was pain free. He probably won't be winning any big meets before the end of the season, but it is about what I would expect after the loss of training he had.
He could probably get to 1:45 high by the end of the season if he is lucky. So now he has to decide what makes more sense, push through to run a mediocre (for him) time at the end of the year, or pack it up and focus on next year.
Did he look relaxed? He's coming back from injury, so maybe he's running at 85%.
he was getting pretty cocky after his olympics... karma???

Karma is coming for the benevolent dictator and you.
Oh yeah big boy.
MAGA
His choice actions support my philosophy on life.
When in doubt, pull out

Does anyone have the vid to see if he looked relaxed? Maybe it was just a rust buster.
Head definitely blew up a bit.

Leaving his tried and true coach and moving across the country...injured...imploding. I suppose time will tell, and I hope that I'm mistaken.
He's called it a season after bombing in sopot, it seems. According to his Instagram story.
Will someone now tell me what it means to run 1:43 in April??
LOL
You have exactly ZERO idea what type of training he did since flopping at usatf. Stop pretending like you do.
