Didn't realize he fell badly in the steeplechase heats. If not for that, seems like he could have qualified for the final at age 16!

He said qualify, he didn't suggest he would have placed in the final.
Excuse my, but what is the difference between "qualify for the final" and "placed in the final".
If you place someone somewhere, then he is there?
Sorry, non native speaker here...

To place means to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd.
All your bickering ass-hide, this kid has a fantastic future.
He'll never go under 8:10 in the steeple. Mark my words.

Actually "place" means to come in second - watch The Sting for a great lesson on that ;)

Because you suck if you only run 8:10 in the steeplechase
I was just pointing out that in our sport, what actually happens is what matters. Oh, so-and so ran 3:37 at altitude in the rain on a square track, so if everything was different it was worth 3:29. Oh, so-and-so fell down, so if everything had been different, it was worth making the final. We'll, no, it's still a 3:37. It's still a not making the final. I prefer to live in this timeline.

Probably not, he doesnt want to run the steeple as he think its sub par to the 1500m.

Your posts on this thread paint you as a miserable person.

Don't listen to this idiot. He is confusing horse racing with human racing; they're different sports with different terms.

Glad you took that seriously.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
