Did I mess my thyroid up? - looking for some insight and help

Calorie deficit and fasting don't mix well with hard training. Just eat more dude

Take it very easy for a while 2-3 weeks minimum. Jog and do very gentle strides only. Nothing remotely hard.

Eat well. Forget all about calorific intake. Plenty of good quality carbs, high quality protein, lashings of fresh fruit and veg. Generally, training hard and restricting food intake is a combination that rarely ends well!

Your doctor, who is a professional, gives you advice that you disagree with. If you disagree with your doctor then get a second opinion from another doctor. For thyroid problems the specialist you want to see is an endocrinologist.

Don't rely on medical opinions from an anonymous message board where the majority of the respondents barely graduated with degrees in Kinesiology.

Reference value for total T3 (> or =20 years): 80-200 ng/dl

1 pg = 0,001 ng

Your value: 73.563 pg/dl

73.563 pg = 0,073563 ng

Your total T3 is extremely low, assuming no typo. Maybe take a look at T4 to T3 conversion.

Thanks for the replies. I've done very little training for almost 6 weeks now and I'm really frustrated as I'm not feeling a whole lot better. Can anyone interpret my results for me or give me some advice to get treatment, had been considering taking natural thyroid like armour to boost me back up.

Any replies would be appreciated

Running is not going to damage your thyroid, but poor diet can run it down, and drugs can destroy it, so you're going the wrong direction with this. In fact running builds up your body and makes the thyroid quite a bit stronger.

Certain foods are much worse for the thyroid, especially caffeine which throws thyroid hormones out of whack and has many other harmful effects, and anything containing benzine. As long as you're not taking any medications, and you have a stable healthy basic diet then you should be fine.

What do you suggest I do to alleviate my symptoms. I'm not able to train anymore don't have the energy or motivation which I suspect is due to the very low free t3 and t4 levels. Not a huge caffeine user and never was just have had one daily cup of coffee and a square of dark chocolate for some time.

Are you eating normally? Vegetarian? Vegan? Be honest.

Better get a better relationship with your body than seeking supplements to force it back to work.

Yes I eat very well and I'm 100% honest when I say that. Primarily whole foods, generally high car and plant based with some organic eggs, red meat (usually organic mince or liver and sometimes chicken and fish) the only thing I can think may have triggered this is a calorie deficit while training hard and doing a lot of mileage. I would admit I have ocd type tendencies and am probably too rigid on eating healthy

You have wayyyy too much emphasis on animal protein. Meat and eggs are low carb not high. Those and the caffeine are likely the source of your problems. What you need the most for running are healthy complex carbs.

Appreciate your advice but I usually only eat animal protein once per day. Like I said primarily high carb plant based, green smoothies, lots of fruit, sweet potato and potato, soaked oats for breakfast, rice cakes with avocado etc. I was hoping someone might tell me some legit advice as changing my diet is not going to repair my thyroid overnight
