What do you say, high school track coaches? Is it better to ride a bike to more quickly go between different groups, take a vehicle, or run with the team?

Unless everyone on the team runs at the same speed, running with the team makes no sense.
Assistant coaches should definitely run with the team during workouts. Head coaches should stay in a place where the athletes know they can find them in the case of medical emergency. They also should be staying in tune with how tired their athletes look so they can assign athletes to lengthen or curtail the workout.

On a road run, sure. For a track workout, not so much.

We weren't allowed to ride a bike on the track.
No, I didn't run with the distance runners who were out on the road. I stayed at the track and coached 400/800 guys/gals. On the days when the 4/8 runners were lifting I was on the track with the distance people.

If you have time to run with the squad you should learn how to coach any of these:
Shot
Disc
Javelin
Hammer
Horizontal Jumps
Vertical Jumps
Low Hurdles
High Hurdles
Relays
Short Sprints
Long Sprints
Pole Vault
I'm sure the folks that coach those would be happy to have some help and another set of eyes.
