I always thought runners could only be sprinters, or marathoners. But there's also middle distance.
I got into a "fight" with my friend when I said "anyone can run a marathon!" He got so mad and said that I was being condescending. He also said that it's impossible for him to run a marathon. The thing is... he and I were the same weight, and I am 5 inches shorter than him.
I don't know if it's his defeatist attitude or was I really being condescending when I said that anyone can run a marathon! I didn't mention that it takes a lot of willpower though. I'm still sensitive on this topic because he always tries to pick fights with me and I choose not to take the bait, so I leave him hanging and it makes him even more... irate? (That rhymes, ha!)
Anyways, there's the 100, 200, 400, 800, 3000, 5000, 10000, and marathon distances, and there's cross-country for the weird nature-loving people.
Don't you think that this sport includes everyone of all body types because more mass = speed and height length plays a relatively less important role in succeeding as a runner?
They also did BMI studies too and as long as you don't commit to the 400 or 100 meter distances, there is a distance that'll fit for you.
