Right leg not working properly while running

There's a thread on LetsRun that has gone on for years about a similar problem. I believe it's entitled something like "loss of coordination in leg". You should try to find it.

I had a problem somewhat similar to yours a few years back. I was in my mid-50s and running about 70 mpw, and I also have what you'd call a "side to side running style", which may or may not be relevant. Anyway, out of the blue one of my feet began very lightly scuffing the ground occasionally on the forward swing, not hard enough to put me in danger of stumbling and falling, but enough to be very annoying. I also had a general feeling of a loss of coordination in that leg. I felt it at all speeds, slightly worse when running slowly than when running fast, and even felt it while walking. And there was never any pain. I did not see any health professional, feeling that the issue was subtle enough that no one would be able to find the problem. I did scour the internet, and originally got frightened because "foot drop"' is an early symptom of MS, but my symptoms did not match the MS "foot drop" because my problem appeared to originate in the hip area, not at the ankle. Also, MS is supposed to get worse when you're warmed up or when the weather is hot, and I found the opposite--to some degree I would warm up out of the problem, but not entirely. Anyway, after running like this for about six months, suddenly one day it was gone and it has not returned 4 years later. I still have no idea what was the problem.

Yes what you had sounds exactly like mine. Except mine Got worse when I tried to run through it. It's almost like I ended up with this weird stiff leg pigeon toed inward stride to compensate for the dragging or scuffing foot. My husband just saw me run for the first time and could not believe it. He said I need to go see a neurologist or something because he cannot believe how crazy my leg is - he didn't understand how bad it has become. I'm wondering if it could be sciatica or pinched nerve. I too, like you, scoured the internet and found the drop foot/MS stuff but again like you - mine seemed to stem from hip not foot. It is so incredibly frustrating. I also found that thread you mentioned - goodness - seems like many have similar issues but there doesn't seem to be any solution. And flying to the Midwest for a specific doctor is not option. I'm thinking of trying chiro and acupuncture- I'm so desperate.

Good luck to you. I hope you'll have the same experience as I, and just have it go away. Yours sounds a lot worse than mine and mine lasted about six months, but it did vanish all by itself. My own experience with chiropractors has been very negative, but good luck with it.

Just wondering how you are doing AndreaRVA? Any improvement?

I am also experiencing similar symptoms in my right foot. I can actually hear my right foot land differently and it's driving me nuts. It's at the point where I start running and just want to head home.
