I don't understand why athletes who get lucky celebrate. For example Jenny Simpson, who isn't in a silver medal shape, due to a slow tactical race somehow got lucky, or Centro last year in a pedestrian race. Don't they feel phony standing on the podium? Yes they got a medal, but everyone, including themselves, knows that their not one the three best in the world. In don't expect them to give up their medal, but Jenny Simpson sitting in that press conference all smiling like "look at me, I'm second best in the world", you're not!!
There's nothing to be appreciated in getting lucky. Hard work and preparation should be admired, but luck due to others' misfortune?
