The 5k is probably the toughest event for Americans. On form there are at least 4 competitors Rowbury can't touch (Ayana, Obiri, Teferi, Gidey). The same was true for Frerichs in the steeple, but Rowbury has a long history of not challenging the leaders in world championship events. When she set the AR she finished 6th. I can see Muir and Hassan sticking with the lead group for a while (and both might blow up), with Rowbury and Huddle settling in near the front of a second grouping led by McColgan. This still might be enough to lower the AR, but not nearly enough to medal.
Hassan has an outside chance of medaling if the race gets slow and tactical (unlikely with Ayana and Obiri on board).
