Of what?
Of what?
I actually think it could have worked the other way. Frerichs undoubtedly would have been talking to Quigley before the race since they seem much closer friends than Coburn and Frerichs are.
Frerichs needed that confidence and ruthlessness of planning to hang with Coburn. You don't want to settle into a comfort zone of thinking of yourself as a lesser player and listening to any type of mid pack cautious aspirations that Quigley might have had.
If Jenny Simpson was still running the Steeple, make it 1-2-3-4, the American white women are unstoppable!!
Do they teach English in American public schools anymore?
The Lets Run trolls are getting tiring. Can we call agree to stop feeding them and hope they fade of starvation?
The poor Kenyans lost their dope! hahahahaha. I knew they were cheating all along!!!

Ouisellle sponsored 6 of the 14 in the USATF Sacto, causing some to call them the women's steeplechase company. But none of them made the team for London, and there's a reason for that.
Had she been there, she would have needed an improvement of her PB (9'20) of even more improbable than the silver medallist of +16 secs.
Two girls, in their mid-20, from the same country improving their PB by +15 secs on the same race is reminiscent of Ma Junren's army. It's seems that people are completely OK with the fact that it could have happened (after if you are an hard working, corn-fed american, everything can happen)
It's obvious that people don't care about clean sport.
Americans sweeping the 3000m steeple naturally is as much probable of seeing Kenyans sweeping the 100m.
As much as I like Quigley and her story, she has been surpassed by her teammate and is nowhere near the same fitness. She is too big for the steeple. It puts her at a disadvantage. She would be smarter to run the 15 as her main event. If she stays with the steeple, she will soon be passed by the next graduated NCAA champ.
Can we hold our hosrses here, please. To the fellow writting Quigley off as a steepler for superficial reasons: maybe she and Jerry know more about what event she should be doing than we do? She is, ya know, on I think her third Team USA for steeple now. And, as fun as it is to guess about what might've been, can we realize that Quigley just had some bad luck which kept her from the next round. So, the conclusion that Quigley has totally been surpassed by her teammate and is now done is rather out there? I'm totally fangirling here, but still. My prediction: If Freichs had still gone toward the front, Quigley would have followed her and they would have been close. They would have both been top 5 or 6, I think. Maybe 2 and 3.

Quigley could have been in the top 7 for sure, and possibly top 4 or better. I wonder if they're racing more steeples this year. This would be a great time for all of them to run a fast race, including the Kenyans.

This is the same girl who won Club Cross (an 8k) back in the Winter and then went on to run 4:03 in the 1500m in Huesdan a few weeks back
She's got the strength and speed. Frerichs 1500m PR is only 4:18.92.
If anything, I thought Quigley was going to be the one who had the breakout race at World's. Not Frerichs, I predicted Quigley would be 9:05-9:07 and Frerichs 9:08-9:10. I definitely think Quigley was in similar fitness and would have threatened an American sweep yesterday.
I was thinking about this myself. I'll try to get one of the guys in London to Jerry Schumacher or Pascal D and see if they'll compare the fitness levels of Frerichs and Quigley.
It should be remembered that Quigely was 3 seconds behind Frerichs at USAs.
Anyway, it may have been good that Quigley wasn't in the race. Sometimes, there are weird inter team dynamics going on.
I absolutely think the key to the whole thing - well other than Chepkoech having a brain fart and tossing the race she would have won away - was Frerichs being in it. It looked to me on several occasions that Frerichs motivated Coburn.
I've seen it a million times in races. People won't let people they know they are better than beat them. Once at NCAA cross I saw a Princeton guy totally packing it in at the end of NCAA xc. My Cornell guy rolled up on him about 150 meters from the finish. The Princeton guy looked over his shoulder and had new life. He had quit as he wasn't going to get AA but then he sure enough wasn't going to lose to the Cornell guy.
In the middle of the race when it got strung out, Coburn didn't fall off but partof that may have been because she knew Frerichs was right there. Then on the last lap, Coburn was doing nothing until Frerichs came by. Coburn admitted seeing quigley up there gave her the belief she should be doing it.
Ha. I tend to agree but do you have Simpson at #1??
In 2017, we should raise some money and have $100,000 prize for the winner. $20,000 for participation. What else do they have to do next year?
This race played out perfect. Any other formula could have changed the outcome. With Quigley in there our two other girls might not of hit certain barriers the same way, ect, ect. I don't believe this could have been run any better. We would not have went 1,2,3.

Who purrier? She's also a lil on the heavy side, but it's mainly the twins 👀

Who else ran club XC?! I watched her compete in plenty of indoor miles at fsu and do think the 4:03 pb was impressive based on the volume of training. We'll see how it plays out. She has made teams but that just requires beating the Oiselle gang and Garcia. And I'm not even getting into the history of stress fractures and reactions that have and will keep her from stringing together lots of training. There is a biomechanic flaw that they have yet to fix. Just like Jaeger came to the steeple late or Barringer left the steeple, she can change.
Quigley would have definitely been up there! She just ran a 4:03 1500 and was feeling strong and healthy. I think people forget that at the last two US nationals she had been injured heading into both. When she can put in quality training, which she has been able to do for the past two months, she is right up there with the best! She is ready for a huge PR. I hope she gets a chance to race soon!
