I am doing a 5K race tonight on a track. I have no experience with spikes other than training with them here and there. However, I didn't know is spikes would help since this isn't a road race. If not then I got good racing flats.

Spikes will help you get a little extra traction compared to flats. They are not really any different other than the fact that they have spikes. But traction isn't a huge concern on the track, so if you prefer your flats then go for it!
