The men's 10k and the women's 1500 have been the most exciting races so far, and amongst track fans I feel like the Cheltegei, Kipyegon, and Simpson have come out really good
But I think the breakout star is Warholm
His time wasn't amazing here but he is very young and has the POTENTIAL to improve quite a bit and could take more medals in the future. In addition he seems to have a level of charisma that could even catch on with the non track public to a certain extent (I had a cousin who doesn't know anything about track sending me the Warholm victory reaction gif)
I'm biased, but I agree with Warholm. Together with Coburn they are probably leading, and with under-the-radar events. I think McLeod is another good nomination. Ibarguen and Rojas are great but they've been around, Ibarguen has been dominating for like 5 years. Hammer won't be the most popular event (especially in the US) any time soon, but both Polish throwers dominate and have a star feel to them, they come through big, feed off the crowd, etc. Kipyegon is one of the most likable, but seems to prefer putting her head down and focusing, while a few of her competitors get more of the limelight.
Stupid thread.
You all know Mo will take the 5000 and be the greatest athlete of the Worlds once again.
Belgian girl wrote: What about Nafi Thiam ? Easy win, she's cute and smart, and very humble. Maybe too humble actually to be a good fit for the role, it seems she prefers to remain quite reserved.
But we should wait the end of the Worlds before deciding, see what Kevin Mayer will do. He's good, he's sexy/charismatic, he's smart, if he wins he could be the one, don't you think ?
Mayer...perhaps for the straight girls but even if he wins, I can't say he's standout. Why not Christian Taylor - absolutely dominant, eloquent dude, good looking, accomplished? OK this wasn't his #1 performance but, he still won and many other previous champs didn't. Or J GAT, got some attitude, dethrones BOLT? He's even available via TINDER in case you're interested, lol! See previous LR threads.
As for my vote, yeah, we agree on this, Thiam is HOTT!! Everyone knows I love black sprintergirls but Thiam has even more going for her, she's tall and strong and alluring. 1.84m! :) I want to make her wear heels when she meets me... I don't give a rat's a$$ about the medieval stupidity of wanting fragile princess dolls, I LOOOVE tall, strong, powerful, accomplished women who run fast and Thiam has all those qualities. Yummy!! Only thing is, she's quiet, almost reticent, softly-spoken and I prefer a woman with strong character who speaks out. Schippers may be white, but she's hot too. Same reasons.
All that detail and I missed the biggest deal - women's steeple

No one. It's been a disappointing meet so far. If I had to choose, I'd go with Monsieur P.A. Bosse.
....and no, women's triple jumpers are not going to reach star status, no matter how good the rivalry is.
Tori Bowie, if she anchors for gold in the 4x100.
It's Farah, nobody else even close
women's winners: bowie, schippers, francis, carter, faith kipyegon beating semenya and simpson, coburn Ayana, kenyan marathon winner (rose chelimo?); stanford pv, u.s. ljer, chinese shotputter:
so far, schippers has silver in the 100m and gold in the 200m. Ayana could get ahead of her if she wins the 5 to get a second gold. Two medals for ta-lou, very solid. Bowie'll add a relay gold. Semenya will have gold and bronze.
men's winners: gatlin, guliyev, WVN, bosse, kipruto, mo, kenyan marathon winner (kirui?); walsh, kendricks, don't remember the hammer guy, taylor
WVN has gold and silver, putting him as the man of the meet unless Mo wins his second gold in the 5000m. WVN might get a 4x100 or 4x400m medal if SA is in both.

Ayana did better than Farah.

the way these champs have been going I half expect Kemoy Campbell to take gold (someone should put money on it)
Its all relative to expectations. If not you could pick Shippers, Mo, WvN, etc. ZZZZZZZ
For me its Frerichs, silver medal, huge PR with all the ringers present.
Next for me is Gatlin. So glad to see Bolt go down. 35>30
Bosse is in the mix but too many questions about the field.
Francis also a consideration and I suppose will get another gold in the relay.
schippers was bronze in the 100m, my mistake, so gold and bronze, which beats silver and silver from ta-lou.
Wow. For the US, the women's steeple is going to be unmatchable.

Definitely Bosse. He has the personality and embodies an upset win by a clean athlete.
His friend got rejected by a girl so he told his friend to come make party in london [sic].
That girl is the laughing stock of the track world right now amd I hope Bosse gets his friend laid!
Mo and Ayana if the double gold!
Definitely not Cellphone Chesspale.
If Semenya wins the 800, it's her IMO just off her 1500 medal. Kipyegon -- defending Olympic champion, no surprise. The Olympic race was actually a better one. Ayana -- again defending Olympic champion. Again, no surprise. In the Olympics she also set a world record. Mo Farah winning the double -- totally no surprise but with the meet in London and Farah retiring from the track this could make him the star of the WC's.
