They can't see in the rain, and again how many runners are gonna get sick for the final.

Barega 13:21. Pretty fast for a heat. Also not bad considering the weather. Chelimo made it as fastest loser. It is impressive to get back up after falling to qualify. This weather is awful.
I think Chemilo will repeat his U.S trial strategy in the final after that. No way he will want to run in the pack again
1) Chelimo was not fastest loser
2) He should not try to run away from people in the final

Who was pushing Chelimo first when he threw his hands up?
Was it Menjo who caused Chelimo to fall, then went down behind him?
Also why was Butchart smiling and gesturing like "wtf" at Chelimo on the final straight? Was Chelimo trying to push him to outer lanes for 8/9 place?
Chelimo seemed to be complaining a lot but if anyone was at fault, I think it was Chelimo.
Makwala in lane 1, making it difficult for him.
according to track and field news, the fastest ever 200m in lane 1 is 20.04. It's the slowest of any lane statistically. Of course it's rare for any really fast athlete to run in that lane so.

Who knew that distance running was a full contact sport? That 5000m was pretty brutal. Maybe they should start running that event in lanes the whole way, like the 400m. LOL.
Heats can be pretty painless if you have your head on straight. Too many are afraid to lose contact with the front qualifying positions. This isn't an 800, you have 5000m to run before the qualifiers are sorted out. There is plenty of time to chill and stay out of trouble. Hill, Knight, demonstrated that.
haha, just saw the replay of Makwala's time trial. what a legend this man. those push-ups afterwards. go for it man! lane one is a disadvantage, but hopefully won't matter.

B/c they were through on time - Butchart said in the post-race he was telling Chelimo that top 10 were through from the heat. He could relax.
Makwala was in a hurry to get to the bathroom.
Jenkins is a terrible pack and position runner. You can tell he is not comfortable with running in the inside. He wanted no part of it.
Barega stayed out in front, and never looked back. Dude is focus. HE is prepared to take it hard from the beginning to the end.
Chelimo is a dumb arse. He always runs like that. Looking around, focking with his nose, not focused. He constantly turns his head throughout the race, even while in a pack.
Baller run by Makwala.
Makwala!!!!
finest display of pure hate one lane one.
Makwala got second barley beaten by young. The crowd loves him now. Two 200s in one day, 20.20 and 20.14, the latter of which was run in lane 1 full of puddles. Impressive
Ah thanks. Chelimo was grimacing the whole time after he fell, and it was funny to see him in the throes of agony while Butchart had a big smile on his face.In the NCAA, it seems like they would automatically advance Chelimo and the other guy as long as they finish. Is that true here? That sure must have taken a lot out of Chelimo for the next round.

Good on him...hopefully he can medal.

Interview on BBC confirms. "Running with anger."
omg the hedgehog mascot on the slip-n-slide
that was hilarious
Interview with Makwala: "I want my 400 back! The 400 is my race, I only run the 200 once in a while."
Wow, Richards. He is kind of Blake , storming off the bend to open a huge lead.

In the BBC interview Butchart said "Chill man, we're through" but apparently Chelimo was eyeballs out and wasn't having it.
