Didn't watch. Don't care. Just Gatlin received two drug suspensions. Should have been banned for life over a decade ago. All of his achievements are suspect at best.
I respect Michael Johnson a lot less after this exchange.

While Radcliffe's suspect blood test results were being swept under the carpet ....

Which of the Brit Bongs were slobbin' all over Mo in his 10k? Was it Cram or Ovett? (Too many Steves.) It was totally nauseating. Paula, the Steves, an Irish (?) commentator-- all just constantly beaming about sunshine and rainbows. Never heard anything like it. I know he's the "local" boy but it's gross.
Anyone who thinks British athletics is clean enough to justify their bogeyman treatment and the degree of Russian vilification has their heads in the sand. Gatlin is clearly getting it too. "The sport is squeaky clean now! Look at Mo go! (In that snarling gravelly voice.) No one can possibly get him! What an amazing performance!" 🙄
"They're only dirty when they fail drug tests." Please.
And I'm not a Gatlin defender. But Bolt is a freak. A dirty protected one. Gatlin wins a cleaner race and it's some travesty.

Keep bring stupid and put your fingers in your ears. You must be British
Paula and MJ are both sociopaths.
At first my mind read Michael Johnson gives Steve Cram his BBC
What bothers me the most about the booing of Gatlin is that they're assuming he's still doping -- that's the only reason to boo him, because otherwise you're booing a currently-clean athlete. And if you boo based on suspicion rather than fact, there are PLENTY of athletes to boo, including their darling Farah. It also is an indirect disgust with IAAF & WADA's anti-doping -- because if a booing fan believes that Gatlin is still doping but not being caught, they're effectively also booing the biological passport and anti-doping testing programs. Good job by MJ on calling out the biased booing of only one athlete. I want fairness. If Gatlin gets booed, so should dozens more. If they don't get booed, neither should Gatlin. If they don't believe in rehabilitation of an athlete, call for a lifetime ban and demand the removal of all other athletes with violations, including some of the Brits.... Inconsistency hints to other motives....
Mo is from Somalia. Why do the brits care so much about him?
🙌ðŸ½
Almost replied to myself with the bit about faith in drug testing and speculation but you totally nailed it.
MJ's point that the crowd did not boo Gatlin in 2012 was a bit muted because Gatlin was only bronze at those games. Perhaps they would have booed him then if he had won? Still a good point by MJ.
It's just really poor crowd behavior, frankly. rude. Would be for anyone from any country who is not presently guilty of something but was years ago and had paid their dues since.
Overall, the crowd seemed to lack education... to MJ's point. if they knew Gatlin had been clean for years, they would not have booed as if he had tested positive just last month.
Swimming just had their worlds and a Russian swimmer who tested positive twice, a couple years back... She competed and won. it would be nutz to hear the crowd booing her..
who cares if it was in the past - the positive effects of doping last a lifetime (even when off the juice). This has been proven.
Gatlin will always be a cheater.
They both have good points. The IAAF and WADA have created a system that will set up situations like this, just like the IAAF/CAS conflict has created the Semenya situaion.

Dude ..you don't know what you talking about. The effects of steroids last several months after stopping and then disappear completely. I know because I tried them briefly and know many others who have also. But, Gatlin is still on steroids and is a cheat and liar...
And your ironclad evidence of this is...........what?
It did not appear to be a terribly uncomfortable conversation. I think both Cram and Johnson made good points.
What would help? Tougher bans - perhaps lifetime bans - and erasure of all records.
Gatlin is a worse fraud than ben johnson or any russian athlete

Actually, the other dude did know what he was talking about. There are several lines of evidence suggesting that some aspects of the performance-enhancing benefits of steroids persist for many years.

First of all, incredible argument. Bravo
Secondly, I hate dopers. I'm not giving Gatlin a pass for being American. They all need to be rid from the sport. They've proven they have no respect for the game or their competitors; they've proven they don't belong.
Out with them all.
Strip their medals. Rescind their records. Make them pay back their stolen "earnings." And let them be forgotten by track world.
Thirdly, I'm the most American human being you've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. And far from stupid as well as I'm sure you can tell by my ability to form a well phrased thought.

Not only is exthrower a pathetic racist, he's a drug cheat too?!?!
Hahahaha this is too good! You are such a pathetic human!
