Why is Simpson only good at championship meets? She's never a factor on the diamond league circuit
You're right, it would be much better if she was a factor in the DL and not at championships.

Oh, I see.

Fair, she was a factor then when she was at her peak. Since then though? Only competes in select races.
What's your point? Whenever she does compete, she is competitive.
Ah the Ol mile would've been the advantage then

Jenny is a former Diamond League champion, just not many races this year. If this race were 10 yards longer she would have had the gold.

Bring Back the Mile!

How about 9 yards? Bring back the Mile!!!

She's tactically brilliant and pretty damn fast. That's a winning combo for medals.
Don't need to be capable of winning rabbited time trials to get medals.
I would toss in experienced and well-coached. She is patient and understands how often the inside lane can open up.
For the record, I like championship races not rabbited time trials.

9 or 10 extra yards would not make this race a mile.

1) Tactics are involved at championships. It's not about who is the fastest.
2) I don't agree with your premise she's not a factor on the DL circuit. It may be that you are just not paying attention to who is getting 2nd, 3rd , etc. But she's won some.
She was particulalry a factor back when 3:59 made you a beast - just so much when everyone started running 3:57.
She's been second at Pre, Shanghai, won Monaco in 2013., won Pre in 2015, etc. .
First of all Congrats to Jenny. But why was she so happy? Did she win world in 2011? I just thought she over reacted to her getting 2nd place. Or may be she was just not thinking she will medal? I think Jenny really run to get on to the podium not to win the race.
Backfire!!
How did the lane open up for Jenny? In the home strech, Miur drifted out to pass a fading Hassan; then Hassan drifts to the outside of lane 1, a common blocking move that none of us like to see. It backfires when she leaves the lane open for a charging Jenny Simpson.
I hope the elbow girl learned a lesson from this.
Big difference running heats, semis and a final versus just one race......running smart in three races that close together is a real talent and to save some fuel in the tank for the final. She is one of the best at it.
Going back a page but 2nd in 2013 not 3rd....just Aregawi in front.
Yeah, you really sound cool with that post title shill. "Throws shade at"...you're really hip and original. Insert major sarcasm.

She won the Diamond League in 2014.
😂😂😂😂
More championship posting from the LRC sofapack.
I just re-watched the final and was super impressed that when Muir surged past her on the backstraight, she didn't overeact and surge with her, but remained composed and let Muir gap her, knowing that one or two of those three would be coming back to her. She even talks in her interview how she was thinking that Kipyegon and Hassan were tearing each other apart around that curve. She truly is an assassin, in a good sense of the term: keeps her cool then pulls the trigger at the right time and in the right direction.

+1
A tutorial on how to use the word shade.
Especially for the ones who think a thirty year old term is the height of being hep in todays world.

Overreacted? First of all, she's easily the oldest in the field. It's not too often you see medalists in the 1500 who are 30. It really shows how good of a career she's had, and how experience is clutch. Second, a medal is a medal. That's an awesome achievement and she brought back some hardware for the US. Third, 2011 was a really weird year and nobody broke 4 minutes. However, she killed it in that race. Forth, she owned a bunch of runners who were beating her all season, and was less than .2 seconds from gold. Rowbury may have the American record, but the only medal she ever won was a bronze that she only got cause the winner was DQd and the favourite was tripped (not taking away from the fact that Rowbury is an amazing runner too). Jenny could arguably be the GOAT in American milers in terms of how great of a career she's had/is still having.
Sorry but who is Lauar Muir?
