Did any of you see how far back Semenya was? She closed up to the contenders in no time. She just let them get too far ahead. 10 more meters and she would have won, not Simpson.

I was rooting for Caster to win gold. Caster timed her last lap good but ran a bad race tactically. She ran virtually the entire thing in the middle of lane 2.
Why were you rooting for this result?
The only reason I would root for that result is to highlight the farce that has ensured because the governing bodies are not adequately addressing the excess testosterone issue.
Hassan went hard ..too hard, especially around the bend, and so did muir
Jenny was the smart one. She pulled up on the bend, and then accelerated down the stretch.
Stupid tactics by hassan. Laura almost got it right...
Dibaba? damn. last place?... yeah, she was juicing.
Anyone else who doesn't have tv access listen to the iaaf radio broadcast? The broadcasters are actually quite good. Despite no visuals, it's almost better than any of the usual crappy tv broadcasts.
Hassan made that race - deserved a medal.

It's only natural to root for one's own gender
You're as dumb as you are stupid

Don"t want to make too much of this, as Simpson ran brilliantly, but man did she push through on the inside hard...she had no room. I would think there will be a DQ challenge there.
I thought the same thing but on replay there is no contact whatsoever. Hassan doesn't even react.
Jenny's tactics were of course superb but had she not gotten herself boxed in for the middle of the race, she could have won. She had to make a hard move to get out when Hassan made her move with 600 to go -- could have been the difference for her.
Not criticizing her, though -- she's amazing and makes the best of every race. So touched by how many other pros are tweeting out their awe and congratulations. Even the pros all look up to her.
Think Muir probably had the best fitness. Wasted by far the most energy in the field.

Huh? The space was open for her to move through. Why would she get a DQ - no contact, nothing ...
I am watching in Germany and they did not show the replay up the home straight, it looked from the side angle both replays that she pushed through--I could be wrong though.
Well not a particularly insightful interview from Laura. She said she took it out like she planned to, but no explanation as to why she ran 7 secs slower than PR.
She did a sorta "Coe in Moscow" halfway through, going back to like 8th. No real excuses that we know of...I think she just had a bad day.

I disagree..Laura did, even though they slowed on the second lap. She went out and got it going.
Hassan did what dibaba did in rio, ran a fast third and a half lap, then died. It wasn't smart, because FAITH IS STRONG AS FOCK..
Kenyan women know how to run!
obiri will do the same thing.

If Semenya had covered the burst down the backstretch, she would have made Hassan's last 50 look fast.
wow just noticed DIBABA DFL. how the mighty have fallen.

Yeah. Why does everyone feel bad for Muir? Hassan made the race. Not necessarily a smart race for her, but she made it. Muir didn't do anything.

At one point (maybe on the backstretch on the last lap) it looked like Muir shoved Simpson hard after a close pass. Did anyone else see that?

If she has a right to compete, that right should be respected. The real question is whether she has a right to compete.
S/he has the right to complete in the high testosterone, Y chromosomes open category.

Interesting, because I would imagine that bad kidney would cause an infection as the kidney cells continue to die.
If it became infected, they'd probably have to remove it. Normally, the kidney just shrivels up without causing problems.

That was just normal jostling mid race

She tapped her shoulder to tell her to move and I think the knocks was accidental on the pass. Affected her more than Jenny. Getting boxed in probably cost Muir the race.
