Great to see Joe stillin from Texas and Andrew Colley from Arkansas are still on that grind
Whoops I mean nc state for colley
That's a sick result for Hunter. Funny that he won in a time slower than he ran last year. He's starting to come into his own.

Joe Stilin from Texas? He spent 4 years at Princeton. If I go a steakhouse and at the end of the night order a sundae, I don't tell my buddies the next day I went to an ice cream shop.
This is a poorly thought out metaphor

True, but the time was not what Hunter was pursuing as his #1 goal. I haven't seen the splits yet, but I think the first half was over 2:00, so Hunter pulled a Centro and ran a tactical masterpiece, time be damned. Seventh, I think, last year in a faster time than first this year. No matter. The thrill of victory, and all that. The win takes the cake.
On the results I looked at it had their split at 2:03 for the majority of the guys

I wouldn't have expected anyone else in the race to beat him. Especially in 3:57.

You seem to not know who Engels is.
7 or 8 sub 4 miles and 3:36.77 all before his 20th birthday...
I guess this is the best field one can assemble this late in the season for non-Worlds competitors. The Portland meets, Nashville, Furman Elite 1500, etc seem so much more competitive and not nearly the hype/sponsorship support.

Going into the race, Hunter was only the 3rd fastest, based on pure numbers crunching (which only has limited value, I know). Here are the rankings of the 14 runners in yesterday's Sir Walter Miler, based on each guy's pre-race mile PR or his 1500 PR converted to a mile time (MileStat converter). I took these times from the Sir Walter Miler website in all cases, except for Drew Piazza's mile best, found elsewhere on-line.
Each miler's finishing place and time in yesterday's race is also noted. The runners with the top times going into the race did take the top spots.
