The Guardian article on doping in Ethiopia, shows how easy it is to buy EPO, how bad internal testing is etc.
9 vial for $103 though. Bargain?

EPO is cheaper when purchased from smugglers in the hills between Font-Romeu, France and the smuggling haven of the country of Andorra.

Do you genuinely think there are smugglers crossing the Pyrenees carrying vials of EPO to sell to runners?
Sounds like a weird way of doing things.
How do you think Kilian Jornet financed his early career?

How many doses to the vial? And how many doses would I need to be faster?
This article directly states that the Berlin winner in the video admitting to doping was a female.

Why smuggle in an obvious way? They are only selling to runners who require super-secret delivery in remote places.
And yet somehow there are young runners that get pretty furious when you point out the undisputed fact that Dibaba is a doper.
No one seems to care when I call Ayana a doper, though she's not drop-dead-gorgeous like Dibaba.
And as for the smuggling...why smuggle something you can get over the counter, without scrutiny for ten bucks?

wow, that seems really cheap
I thought it was more than $103 for one vial, that's about what a kidney patient pays in the U.S.
Meanwhile dibaba just cruised to a victory in her heat. She's definitely clean though.
How is it so cheap? Is it really EPO? What is the quality?
where does Mo get his? how about Rupp and Jager?

He pays someone to tag along with him on his foreign jaunts and keep him supplied
But is that what runners are using these days? Are they using SARMs? (Serious question)

Yeah...right here on LRC. Lol.
You can get all kinds drugs that we might call prescription drugs as over the counter in many developing countries. Not a surprise.
That was super convenient when I lost my malaria meds one time.

We have an absolute and comparative advantage compared to Ethiopia.

Looks like it's nine vials of 1,000 IU each, so 9,000 IU in total.
In a US pharmacy that amount of EPO would cost around $618, so the Ethiopian price is six times cheaper. No clue about the quality, but it was most likely manufactured in India or China and is probably legitimate.
Dosing would depend on your body weight, but you could start with a 5,000 IU dose per week until you establish how well your hemoglobin level responds to EPO.
Initially, you should have your hemoglobin/hematocrit levels checked every week. The key is not to get your hematocrit level over 55, otherwise you are substantially increasing the risk of stroke or a cardiovascular event.
Of course, in most of the world, you will need an EPO prescription and a doctor's supervision to do any of this. Not to to mention a TUE.
Correction: The US price for 9,000 IU would be around $155, not $618.
