And his mileage is? He's more fast-twitch oriented (he played bball as a senior in HS), so, although he ran 21:54 for the 5k, that probably doesn't translate to sub 3:45 42k shape if he isnt doing at least 60 MPW.

Weird Brag
Glad Hart is running it. He provided some fun commentary when he was onsite for Breaking2.
If he trains somewhat seriously, he should break 4.
I bet his stride length is about 2'6", guy is 5'1" . His cadence is gonna be YUGE!!!
The guy runs a lot of short runs, "spontaneous 5Ks" and hits the gym a lot so I'm sure he can finish. On the other hand he probably runs around 20 to 30 mpw tops with no real long runs. I predict a huge blow up/positive split in the 3:45 to 4:30 range. He should aim to beat Puff Daddy's NYC mark from a ways back. I think he did around 4:20. Caroline Wozniacki's 3:26 is probably way out of reach. She's actually pretty athletic....and not a dwarf.
Unfortunately now the race day tv now will be 75% his running comedy show with some elite highlights thrown in

Glad someone mentioned it, he also has a pair of those shoes, not sure what they're call 4% or something. And I don't believe anyone can make it to high level in any field, without being mentally tough, so he has that in his favor also. I think he has his own Nike shoes too, like Kanye West has with a different company.

Unfortunately, that's the summary of elite athletics today. Lack of headlines because TV is entertainment. And there arent charismatic characters. People doesn't care about (lets say) Paul Chelimo, Galen Rupp, Clayton Murphy, etc...
Why track and field don't have a sub 13:10/27:20 Kevin Hart?
Why there aren't fathers like Lavar Ball making hilarious headlines about her HS/College sons, comparing them with El G, Lagat, Mo, Bolt, etc?

Why does the fact that he played basketball mean that he's "fast-twitch oriented"?
I think he was making a bit of an assumption there, but a reasonable one. I am not sure that you can play basketball at any level without some degree of quickness, particularly at the guard position, which, at 5' 4", was presumably Hart's position.

Highly doubt he needs to even go more than 40 a week. A 4 hour marathon for someone that's fit is not that difficult. Then again Tiki Barber has put up atrocious times for what I'd think he's capable of but I don't know his training and/or if he suffers from injuries related to running.
THIS IS NOW A THREAD ABOUT ALAN TURING RUNNING A 2;46 MARATHON IN 1947.
That's really impressive, particularly for 70 years ago.

I ran Hood to Coast last year when he ran it - saw him running several times. He is in decent shape and can run, sub-4 should not be a problem. If he trains I'd say sub-3:30 is realistic...

On a tweet from a couple years ago, he says he ran a 21:54 5k.
He has at least a 20:02 from Oct 2015. With good training (and maybe a good pacemaker again ...) sub 3:30 definitely wouldn't be out of the question. But of course it's a matter of how seriously he takes it ... much easier to get in shape for a decent 5K vs a marathon.
Actually Kevin Hart is 5' 4". Considering the 4 fastest marathon runners in history were 5' 7" (Kimetto), 5' 5" (Bekele), 5' 6" (Kipchoge), and 5' 4" (Mutai), I think it is safe to say that Hart is actually a pretty good size for marathon running. You all have got to stop hating on the man's size. In marathon running it is actually an asset. Do some research before you post next time.

Dude Nike is gonna throw millions of dollars his way, does anyone else see the promotion opportunity for Nike.
Ooooh a D3 track All American? Can I follow you on twitter? If you keep working hard you might be able to transfer to a lower tier D1 school and make it as a 7th runner on the cross country team.

Why is it HUGE NEWS when a young healthy person decides to run a marathon? Oh, because he's famous for something else? So that makes HIS entry special?
Well how about this, I was a DIII track All American, and my big announcement is I'M GONNA TELL JOKES IN PUBLIC! What's YOUR "moon shot"?!?!?!?!
Dang it, I knew this would generate some D III hate.
Well of course, Nike is in the business of selling their brand. Why not partner with someone who has 53M IG followers? And 99.99% of those followers never have heard of Eluid Kipchoge or Galen Rupp, so Nike is reaching a new customer.
It's cool to see Kevin Hart try NYC. I am betting on him running 3:30-3:45, which would be pretty good for someone without a background in competitive running. As a reference, Mark Zuckerberg ran 2:03 for his half marathon last year. I am putting Kevin way ahead of that..
And I don't think it hurts the elite field at all. Sure, there will be a story and some footage, but that was going to happen anyways. ESPN has been doing human-interest stories to fill the gaps for years already, nothing else has changed.
Exactly, 90+% of the people won't know the name of the Kenyan that wins, but they will know they ran against Kevin Hart.

RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
