Kip will create all the fictitious runners necessary to fill the field.
many pretenders have come and gone since but Kip is still the GOAT.
he deserves this.
From the Runners World article:
While various members of the media and the public witnessed portions of her attempt, Hughes chose her boyfriend to be one of the official witnesses to her entire attempt.
Trouble is, Guinness requires two independent witnesses for every record attempt, and it defines “independent†as follows: “An independent witness is an individual who is neither affiliated with nor related to the individual or group attempting the record, the record organizers, participants, venue, or any persons involved with staging the event, nor should these individuals have anything to gain from the outcome of the attempt.â€
The reason this is in the news now is because it took Guinness 10 months to process (and deny) Hughes's record application. In a video posted to Facebook on Tuesday, Hughes says she's sent in an additional two witness statements.
However, in a statement emailed to Runner's World, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS SAID:
“Unfortunately, the witness recording the majority of Amy’s progress was not independent of her, meaning we were unable to ratify the attempt as this is an infringement of a core policy for record validation.
The attempt has not been deemed invalid due to lack of witnesses, rather the lack of impartiality of the witness who took the recording of the distance she covered. We are not disputing that Amy ran for one week—this is absolutely clear to see from her evidence. It is the recording of how far she ran which we cannot accept. It is vital for the integrity of all of our records to ensure the requisite witnesses are completely independent from the person attempting the record.
We know how much time and dedication went into this record attempt and the motivation for Amy’s attempt is hugely admirable. We sincerely hope that this decision will not deter Amy from looking to break a world record in the future.â€
Hughes could have saved herself some grief if she'd read our detailed article about the process of setting a Guinness World Record for running in a costume. In it, we confirm that coworkers don't count as independent witnesses—and if they don't, someone who voluntarily spends a lot of time with you (such as a boyfriend) clearly would not.
No worries for Amy.
Oh, I just realized something important. From Amy Hughes tweet yesterday claiming Guinness only "asked for 10 mins video everyday", I don't think Amy Hughes and Dave Keighley even sent the full 24x7 live stream videos to Guinness! They likely edited the 10 min videos they sent to exclude the portions where Amy is cheating and they didn't realize that some of these Millet Sport videos were still accessible online after the event was long over. That would explain why they were so brazen with their harassment of Guinness and holier than thou attitude to everyone asking questions. They didn't think anyone still had access to the full videos.

This newer tweet is a direct denial and calls Derek Murphy's article about her a set of lies. So the game is still on and I'm confident I can show evidence that she did not even cover the 520 miles even with the cheating:

Now that Amy has outed Derek Murphy as a hater she should get one of Dave and Terrie's very attractive 'Train for it don't troll it' t-shirts. She would look great in one!

No. My guess is Dave has been well advised to stay off social media for the time being. Dave is the reason for Amy's current predicament. She was on a treadmill for 7 days yet Dave was too tight to pay for independent witnesses. He also appears to have bungled or exaggerated the log book mileage totals. I am looking forward to SW's analysis of her average speed on each of the 7 days. Dave seems prone to exaggeration, telling Amy 350 miles is a good training week, 28 pounds is the amount of weight she will lose, a few fast 10ks will get her back on target. Keep laying low Dave. You're the problem.
Amy, forget Twitter, Facebook, etc come on here to defend yourself and explain, Derek reads this thread too.

I have never used Fakebook but I gather it is for showing pictures of your cat, I am equally nonplussed at what it's relevance is here.

It looks like Amy and Dave have been lying a lot.
For example:
1) They have no proof or GPS data of Amy's 350 mile training week.
2) They have no proof for this 7 day WR treadmill run with her boyfriend as non-independent witness, and she was holding the rails in the video footage of Scam during the run. Amy did not run 521 miles.
3) Amy did not lose 28 pounds during the WR treadmill challenge.
4) The 53 marathons in 53 days WR (with an RV), sponsored by SEALSKINZ,
was never ratified. There is no convincing evidence or GPS data for her "World Record." They said they had GPS data, but NEVER SENT IT IN because Guinness had closed the window for records at the time. That was just very bad luck for Amy and Dave. It is just a coincidence.
5) Amy has said that Derek Murphy is telling lies. No. That is a false statement.
6) What are some more lies from Amy and Dave?

This is LetsRun.com, where your dreams become reality (even your dreams of breaking treadmill world records) and home of the World Famous Message Boards that all runners read (even hobby joggers).
I think Amy wants to drag this out out until it's worthy of a couple of stories in Outside Magazine like this one:
https://www.outsideonline.com/2120811/report-rob-young-received-unauthorized-assistance-trans-america-attemptEven though it happened inside, it's right up your alley Outside Magazine. Come on! Please!
Sometimes when someone is lying and other people start becoming an annoyance from asking too many questions...they get defensive.
For example, here is a response by Dave on Facebook:
I am writing this post for a number of reasons but mainly to say how I really feel as I have kept quiet which is unusual for me. Just to be clear from the start, this is from me, my opinions, my post. Not anyone else so attack me.
I can't sit back and let Amy get thrown to the wolves any longer!
To me it really doesn't matter what type of runner you are how good, how bad or if you have a famous dad which is now being thrown at me!
Firstly I don't know what planet some of you are on. What makes you think that because you have run a few ultras that you have a divine right to become judge, jury, and executioner ?
Demanding or asking politely that we send you our evidence? Who does that? Do you ask the police for their case noted in a murder? Of course you don't. You see us as easy targets.
The people that will see our evidence are the appropriate official people i.e. GWR not some lonely little man of a running group.
The reason for the campaign so we are clear is we know GWR have awarded records recently to people who have missed the rules far more than we may have, yet they paid and they got the record. As much as it is for Amy, if we can draw GWR to holes in their system to help others then great.
I will stand by and swear on my life for the rest of time that Amy completed the record. Not because I am her boyfriend but because she did it. A respected member who a few of you called upon to back you up even said he only did one ultra previous to his attempt yet you all ignored that because it wasn't the answer you wanted or expected!
To hear people saying she wasn't even tired because she held her hands up at the end, she didn't look like she lost 2 stone is laughable and insulting. The pain and mental strength that girl went through is something you people can only dream of having. The aftermath was shocking and I hated watching her go through that.
I understand other people have been caught in last 12 months, ( one I called out way before you geniuses but I am not an ultra runner so don't get listened too!! But to compare Amy to them takes some sort of person.
What you have done is totally alienate yourself as ultra runners and show the world a small percentage of you are awful human beings and perhaps your the reason people don't take part!
You belittle people for not having done a 6 day event! Maybe they don't want too! You say she is making a laughing stock of athletes?? Best in mind with your in depth research who Amy works for?? Surrounded by professional athletes, she knows what they sacrifice and knows them personally so why would she then go and try to lie over a challenge? Incidentally they are backing her, says a lot.
I could belittle you by saying 6 days is nothing! Try 26 days doing 30 miles a day with 120lbs on your back in the Pakistan mountains, which insistently are fvcking steep!! whilst also being shot at... there we go my d1ck is bigger than yours!
And then one maybe two individuals start questioning what we do with our charity and the money! Basically calling us criminals! That was the final straw! We help people with disabilities, to try and discredit us is low. You are not the charity commission you are not official in anyway shape or form the sooner you realise it the better. However if you feel we are doing wrong then please report us we will happily assist the charity commission with anything. If you look at our charity it's not just myself and Amy as trustees. Luckily for the charity and the people we help neither of us will close the charity because it's something we are immensely proud of. For this that have read the letter someone has comically drafted addressed to Amy yet put on social for the world to see, they have decided they can question the charity. But if you want to be taken seriously..... At least get the name right and the length of time it's been running!!
And then there is the look statements.... not looking like an ultra runner etc, think the group or majority have already made there feelings aware. What a spiteful, gross thing to say.
While I am on weight talk. The person that questioned Amy losing 2 stone!! I must have missed you at the Trafford centre weighing Amy! How the hell can you tell if she lost weight or not! She was recorded morning and night by a professional for all her vitals!
I know that whatever I say or Amy says people will disagree you will argue black is white, but comments about her weight and her look have no place in society let alone a running group.
If some of you spent as much time looking at the good Amy has done in the last few years rather than trying to make her look bad you will see the money she has raised for other people, the charity she set up, the young adults she has helped get back on track, the inspiration she has provided for people to get up and do something, I hope some of you on here can say the same thing, but to try and destroy a young woman who only tries to help is a poor poor show.
The caveat to this is certain people have been honest and supporting. We never asked for support as we know what the truth is, someone decided to post as he was getting no luck on Amy's personal page with his judgemental comments knowing how shallow some people in this group are. It shows what sort of people are in the group. So many comments are arguing amongst yourself because heaven forbid someone didn't agree with your opinion!
I have deliberately left names out of this post but I am more than happy to name anyone if you so wish. I know some of the ultra worlds elite script writers will reply and that's fine say your worse to me I don't give a shit, some of you will continue to be confused and kept changing sides depending on the wind, I don't need people to take sides, and who knows maybe it will inspire me to take up my first ultra so I can have the pleasure of running amongst you.
What does make me smile is the direct messages from within the group of support, and these have come from people the 3 or 4 main influencers of this group would not expect. They are the people who's opinions matter they are in the real world they are genuine.
For everyone of your negative comments Amy received a hundred positive comments, You don't get that kind of support by being a fraud! that is what I feel the group should be about but I know you will argue about watches, poles or someone else as it's a sad reality that some of you have to have something to moan about or belittle!
To call either of our integrity into question is laughable. People who have met us both and thousands who have not have spoken highly which speaks volumes, what do you have a handful of cynical jealous people from social media!
People go on about the petition.... I know the core group are all more intelligent that Einstein but not one of you picked up the author of that. A guy we don't know, a guy who decided to do it off his own back because he himself wanted too! Yet again it's us that did it in your eyes.
One thing I will hold my hands up is I created #justiceforamy it was done tongue in cheek but hey do I regret it? Hell no! Is it cringe maybe but that's social media now. I have seen that hashtag for people with a hangover it's not really that big a deal.
The campaign on SM was set up because GWR don't have appeals so the best way to get them to talk is this way, what it did was get GWR to put a statement out which certain people take as gospel and don't think there could possibly be two sides to a story! God help us if any of you are an official judge!! Well outside of the group anyway.
For those that have either wives/gf or husbands/bf I honestly hope you never have to witness what I have had to do these last few days, but then again most of you are probably living in your mums basement still. I have no idea what drives you to be like you are... it's not for justice that's for sure! Maybe it's because you feel bad you backed others in the past sang their praises, hell even gave them free entry into races, but you can't take your own personal issues out on others.
By all means get your little minions to investigate the charity we are 100% legit and when you find that out we will be getting an apology.
As I have said in email to the said person, go to the charity commission they regulate us but do not try fishing for info from us we don't have to give.
Investigate the challenge, please do it, you might just be able to provide the link we need. Why do I say all this??? Because unlike others you have claimed to have outed we are 100% genuine and have nothing to hide so don't fear your school boy google investigations.
I will quickly touch on 53:53 as you seem fascinated by this too. During the challenge GWR put a block on applications for that record while they looked at their rules. They were upfront about it with us (timing was poor)! But hey that's what happens. So even though all gps date was recorded for each run it was not handed in because when they reopened the record we didn't have what they were asking for. Simple.
The word cheat has been used a lot by members of this group, but what evidence have you got to back your claim up?? You are happy to demand we provide you with evidence but have we ever asked you for evidence of cheating??? It seems one rule for you and one for everyone else, what you don't realise inside your ivory towers is that apart from a handful of you everyone else is thinking... " OH MY GOD SHUT UP ALREADY, GIVE IT A REST"
Unlike others in the past and probably upsetting for you keyboard warriors out there, neither one of us will leave social media as we have nothing to leave for but we will not just take abuse so you want to abuse Amy you will get deleted and blocked from her account nothing sinister just simple case of you have nothing to offer.
Peace and love. And not forgetting 400 pointless replies that will target me personally and I will lose so much sleep over....... Andddddd GO
One thing I will add at the end. The admins seem very fair, honest and sensible I have respect for them. So if this post is inappropriate I respect that I will happily take it down.
Do you think that Dave's post on Facebook is a little bit defensive?
Answer:
Yes.
Amy 'almost' did it!
@meghgrace's story in Runner's World has the headline:
"Runner Logs More Than 500 Miles on Treadmill to Attempt World Record, but Guinness Says No"
https://www.runnersworld.com/unconventional-world-records/treadmill-world-record-attempt
Very similar to the title of this thread:
"Women runs 520 miles on treadmill in 7 days but doesn't get WR as Guinness says her witness doesn't count"
As noted by someone earlier in this thread, makes it sound like Amy actually broke the record or ran at least 500 miles but was hard done by due to a technicality.
How about this one to more accurately reflect what happened RW?
"Woman Attempts to break 7-Day Treadmill World Record, but Guinness Says No"
26 days, 30 miles per day carrying 120 pounds at altitude over very rough terrain.
No chance.
I particularly like this part of Dave's hissy fit:
"I could belittle you by saying 6 days is nothing! Try 26 days doing 30 miles a day with 120lbs on your back in the Pakistan mountains, which insistently are fvcking steep!! whilst also being shot at... there we go my d1ck is bigger than yours!"
Anyone else smell some more BS? I guess if an average guy like Dave imagines he can do 210 miles a week for four weeks, then imagining Amy can do 350 miles a week isn't such a stretch.

Did you miss the previous title of the Runners World article? It was changed later to the title above. Look at the bottom of the article:
Editor’s note: The original headline, “Runner Logs 520 Miles on Treadmill to Attempt World Record, Fails Miserably,†has been changed because it didn’t accurately represent the content of the story.
(The original headline was actually a more accurate representation of Amy's story.)
