This group makes some pretty amateur decisions when it comes to adding functionality and ads to the site.
Embedly is one. You guys took the easy way out on this adding the third party embedly script instead of adding server side functionality (if you insist on using php see cURL libraries). The trade off is that it takes 3-5 seconds longer for pages to load which taints the user experience. Embedly is a cop out for the real need at hand.
Now let's talk about those ads and the user experience. More than anyone else here I understand why ads are necessary. But when I am reading and suddenly the page jumps up or down halting my focus on your content because an ad just injected itself and loaded I cannot tell you how annoying this is. This makes for a terrible user experience. Also, in the last thread I was on a black overlay came over your content and took over thirty seconds to load on my 4g connection phone. It actually never completely loaded. I physically had to reload the page to read the content I wanted to read. While that is extreme, waiting 10-20s for a page to load on your site (w/o the black overlays) due to the async ad injections is not outside the norm.
My advice is to take a look at your needs for the site and go to the necessary lengths to solve the problems (i.e. hire a real developer not here) in an acceptable manner by industry standards. Because right now all you are doing is adding more and more bad javascript, one after another, and it delays the page loads and thus alters the user experience.
Also the sub-category drop downs take too long to load.
Consider this loyal feedback and please try to make it better. If I am experiencing it so are others.
