Yeah but his top assistant took over so its not like a big change in the program.

According to his Instagram, Steven Kapes is leaving Ashland. However, he did not announce where he is going, so he could be quitting running.
Rumor has it the walk on standard at GV is 15:00 while Ferris it's 20:00...
northern mich FTW THOOOO
Check out the comments on that post though. Looks like Walsh to me.

I stand corrected.
Yeah it's officially announced on his Instagram. I wonder why he's downgrading? Ashland was obviously right for him. He was a 16:00 minute 5k guy in high school and then at Ashland he breaks 30 in the 10k. Don't understand this move at all. I wonder what the real reason is.
Very interesting decision on his part....

Explain how this is a downgrade? He would have been all by himself at Ashland.
You don't just leave because the top guy graduated. There must be another reason. The coaches at Ashland must have had a good training plan because Kapes improvement was amazing. Maybe he didn't like the academics there.
Walsh does give him a better chance of heading to the big dance this year. Surprised he didn't go D1 honestly. I also heard that he changed his major before leaving AU. Walsh might have a better program in what he wanted to do? Just spitballing here. Either way I think Walsh is a smart move in a lot of respects.

Who the hell does Walsh have on their team besides Mark Hadley who was MIA for track? Almost their entire varsity graduated. No shot Walsh makes it to nationals especially with the new system.
Tom Scott left? Where??????

That's why I think his decision doesent have to do with running. I'm guessing it's an academic reason.
Serious question, why the heck does this thread even exist? Who even knows or cares what the GLIAC is? Why does the PAC 12 or ACC not get as big of a thread as whatever conference this is? Not trying to be mean or a troll but it doesn't make sense to me
Serious question: why are you here if you aren't interested in the thread?
GLIAC is one of the best D2 conferences buddy
Mens Predictions:
1. GVSU
2. SVSU (surprisingly close 2nd)
3. Ashland
4. Ferris
5. Whoever else.. the rest of these teams are jokes. Hell maybe LSSU slides in for a top 5.
GLIAC definitely a lot weaker than what we've grown to know it as. Still bet they get two guys teams to nationals though.

Why so many threads? wrote:Guys, there's already a 2017 GLIAC thread. Go jump on that one and stop creating second threads like we had in track. Or rename this one the GMAC thread if you want to keep talking about Hillsdale (AKA the team who thought it would look better to lose to Cedarville than GVSU).
Yes, because college conference changes are always done solely with regard to cross country and track. Right on, brother!
Oh hey Andy Towne, still a bit salty aren't ya?
