They are so effed up in the head they think this incident is somehow racist.....
Paranoid and delusional....
First of all, the officer asked for ID not driver license. And I give the 19 year old alot of credit for know his right and having evidence. There will be a lawsuit and this incident will get national attention. The days when Cops behave just like criminals will stop.

You're wrong. He is not being detained for a criminal investigation. He is not required to provide any identification.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_C._LawsonI'm sure you get stopped and questioned all the time...You should know that walking around with a hood on is a felony in my state.

Unfortunately it won't stop.
I think the 19 year old did just fine, but he really had no obligation to speak to the officer at all and should not have done so beyond very, very basic interactions...
"Am I being detained"
"I would like to speak to a lawyer"

Be very careful because you may confuse exthrower with the truth. In his twisted racist world a cop has unlimited power. If a cop asks to see your ID for no reason, your birth certificate or your wife's tits....you better obey or you are showing disrespect for authority.
So on video the young man is asked his age and date of birth and responds "19" and "10/12/99". As of 7.25.17 he would be 17 if his birthday is accurate.
Problems for the young man:
1. So right out of the gate the young man lied - or misspoke if you want to be generous - about his age.
2. And he says he has no identification but indicates he was driving his truck so that would be driving without a license.
3. Truck is parked against traffic, this is illegal most places although just qualifies for a ticket.
4. A general confrontational disrespectful attitude which is foolish against law enforcement or an armed indiclvidual in this case both.
Problems for the officer:
1. Unable to establish a rapport with the individual and fails to call for backup to keep situation calm
2. No basis for breaking bout the handcuffs except a weak disorderly / disregard instructions of law enforcement claim.
3. Overweight and out of shape so has to rely on extreme lethal violence if necessary to resolve conflict.
4. Accomplished very little except conflict heightening.
So what was the end of the story ?
The bottom line is that as soon as the cop saw the guys card and mower, he should have wished him good luck and gone looking for actual criminals.
So looks like he was not 19 and not born in 1999 because they now say he is 20 years old.
Sounds like the whole thing just kept getting ratcheted up by both sides and ended with a swat like arrest in the home because the kid refused to come out and be arrested, so the kid and the officers put everyone at risk.
Not a lot to be proud of all the way around.
People gotta start getting along

Wow. Amazing that the individuals are engaged in entirely lawful entrepreneurial activity. There is no point at which any reasonable officer would have any reasonable suspicion that Mr Gipson had been or was about to be engaged in criminal conduct.
The blame for this falls entirely on the police who violated the civil rights of these individuals are multiple points.
So now we know why he wouldn't give his correct is info, he had an outstanding warrant and did not want to get arrested, and he did this all back in April too:
"Gipson was arrested and charged with evading arrest and failure to identify himself, Rosen said. Gipson is also a fugitive of justice as it relates to an Oct. 2015 charge of assault threat to cause injury, Rosen added. Gipson also has two pending cases in Washington County for resisting arrest and giving false information to police in April, Rosen said."
This is not racial, it is gangsta v law enforcement.

Sounds like Officer Cates found himself an actual criminal wanted by law enforcement on an outstanding warrant.
Even a fat bald donut eatin mustachioed dufus on patrol beat knows when someone can't get their own birthdate right that somethin is up. Kudos to the Sherlock Holmes of Houston.

So the ends justify the means.
If the police decide they want to search every house on my block with no warrant and they find 25 kilos of cocaine.......does that make the search ok?

Great analogy!

If the kid simply said "I am not doing anything wrong officer so I exercise my right to stay on private property and finish my job" that would be fine.
But this kid gave the officer what he did not have: a reasonable articulable suspicion that false identity had been given to him - the mismatched age and birthdate.
You may not like the law, but it is what it is.
Stupid gangsta kid did not learn in April, got scared and dos not want to go to jail.
The officer may be a bad guy but the kid gave him the lawful excuse. There is no legal civil rights or constitutional rights violation here: consensual contact in public and the kid misidentified his age and the name he gave is for someone with a warrant out.
Goes down like this everyday irrespective of races. Legal means.
Why didn't you tell all of what happened?
Did the narrative not sound so good when the followup was that a warrant was out for his arrest?
You should change the title of your thread to why criminals don't like the police and authority, you do a disservice to law enforcement and black citizens and black law enforcement officers everywhere.
Better hope the police execution of that arrest warrant did not find any of the stolen goods from the neighborhood breakins or that one of the people doesn't rat them out if they did that or the story will just get worse for these guys.
For the record, there is no law in Texas that requires you to identify yourself unless you are driving or arrested.

This is the best you can do as far as a video!
The kid swore at the cop and walked around the truck. The other guy waved his hands in the air! The kid had no ID on him? Why is he able to run a business and he does not even know that ignorance is no defense against the law?
I always try to have an ID with me whenever I drive a car. It's the law buddy.
You had better start respecting police!!!
(Police always try to check with people that are showing minor violations such as this case where the kid is parked on the wrong side of the street. They do this to see if there are any major violations present. That is their job and I want them to be able to do it.)
Please stop being a hater and obey common laws.
The cop is just as much a "gangsta" or thug as the kid. Similar to cracker cops shooting a man in the back from 50 feet away then announcing that he was a felon and the coroner found weed in his system. None of that shittt matters.....the pig was wrong.
