Considering how few people run the mile, you might want to expand that to the 1500m equivalent.
Also, if we learned that Jim Ryun did a mountain run for fun would he count?

No, I'm thinking more along the lines translating elite success from mile to the trails. Matt Daniels has made the US team twice, I'm trying to find out if he is the only one who has had the versatility to do so.
