I had some questions about what type of mileage I should be doing this summer. I will be a senior this fall and have built up to doing 47 miles last week and plan on doing 50 next week. I initially had a little trouble with my achilles, but I iced and stretched and at this point the soreness is pretty much completely gone and I am otherwise feeling good. How much mileage should I build up to? Last summer I never did more than low 40s. Last winter I did mid to high 40s and in the spring high 30s to low 40s (I got really sick). In xc I ran 16:20 for 5k and on the track in the spring I have run 4:05 for the 1500 meters.
I would appreciate any advice you guys have. I would love to break 16 this season.
