Alright, I'm going to be straight to the punch. Coach has many talented runners on the boy's team, about 6 frosh runners are capable of a sub 18 5k, and 3 (including me) are sub 17. Our women's team is incredibly weak and our fastest girl runs a 24 minute 5k, but the coach is treating and talking to her like she's a star, saying things like "you'll be running 19s soon enough!" That pretty much equates to a guy running 22 minutes, right? So he's pretty much saying the equivalent of "I'll turn you, a 22 minute 5k guy, into a sub 17 guy!" And he means by the end of the season.
Thoughts? Is it because she stands out amidst the 27 and 30 min 5k runners that he believes she is fast despite not even being competitive in the humblest of meets?
