It sounds like its restricted to Asians. Which means East Africans running for the UAE who live and train in east Africa will win the prize money with an occassional Japanese runner maybe.
It looks like a "score points based on performance, top 3 in each sex get $$$" sort of deal. Seoul is in the spring and Beijing is September-ish and I think Beirut is a month later. All the races are pretty flat for the most part. It'll be interesting to see if they do a good job a siphoning off talent from elsewhere. I could see this being expanded to add Dubai in the future to add a winter/spring marathon.
I'd like to see something like the WMM for the half marathon:
Good for TV- 90 minute show
Athletes can run multiple races per year
They can use existing halfs around the world
By having them more often they can stay in the public eye more.
Chicago will lose its major status in a few years as a result of pacers being banned. So, there will be an opening.

+1. I love this idea. From also the physical side, I'd really like to see the promotion of distances among the public that aren't so physically damaging, and ludicrous for a couch-to-slogger "runner" to be participating in.
Nonsense! As long as the prize money is 6 figures and counting, it isn't going anywhere. Plus it is a fast course, and the top elite women love running Chicago.
Boston and NY don't have pacers either, and they aren't hurting.

I have to agree.

Me too. I'd love to see it as an Olympic event too at some point.......along with bowling :)
In the meantime, a bench warmer on MLB team makes that per season. What a lopsided pay outs.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Jakob Ingebrigtsen has a 1989 Ferrari 348 GTB and he's just put in paperwork to upgrade it
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
