Hit my knee on a table two days ago. Yesterday I did an 8 mile tempo and it didn't hurt until the last mile and during the cool down. Now today it hurt a lot to run. I'm training for a marathon in September so I really can't afford to be hurt too long. I have pain on the inside side of my knee cap, not sure what to do at this point.

Don't run for at least a day or two until it gets better or else you may be out a while trying to run through it.
It is probably bruising on a tendon, but if it lingers get a scan. Don't do what I have done (I banged my hip twice in January and it still hurts).
Funny. I hurt my knee running and now I can't bang my knee on my table.

For a stubbed toe my children find that whining and complaining helps a lot.
I once fell right after the first mile of a marathon. Bloody knee, elbow and hands. I wanted to quit right then and there (thought only lasted a few seconds) but instead, ran on endurance hate. PR'd that day.

Took a few days off. Ran 5 miles on it Sunday but it started hurting 10 minutes in to my run, especially hurt going up and down hills, kind of hobbled my way for 5 miles thinking its just a bad bruise. Yesterday I was supposed to do a track workout. Made it 15 minutes into my workout before it started hurting, decided to call it quits so that I don't make it worse. Going to take a few more days off and see what happens. Seems like it is the tendon on the inside side of my knee. Any advice is appreciated.
You have a muscle imbalance. The solution is to bang the other knee.

Pool work, nordic ski machines. Balancing work. I have a two week injury every 4-6 months (which is probably shoe linked), but I've continued to improve so consider it a planned break. When I have sore knees I actually ice them pre-run, actually helps. Have you got a foam roller?

Don't run until you feel no pain. Only do 15 min run your first day back. Don't do more no matter how good it feels. If it starts to hurt at any time stop right away. Do not run next day Even if no pain. Do 25 minute run for next run. Gradually follow this pattern until you feel like injury is gone. You'll roll right back into marathon training. I would also use this down time to have it checked out by a Dr.
I similar thing happened to me and eventually I learned I had a meniscus tear.
