Alright. Just to be clear, this is not a troll post. I honestly want to know the kind of times required to be a nationally ranked runner and be competitive in the US as a high schooler. I'm going into my freshman year and although I haven't run a 5k, I ran a 16:08 for 3 miles this morning as my weekly tempo run. My coach says that I could very well be the fastest freshman in my state and I want to believe it but I have seen people going to footlocker with a 15:50. Also, I know the winning time is usually 15:00-15:30 for most important meets, but what is the actual time people run that win? For example, Drew Hunter runs a 14:2x 5k but ran a 15 min 5k for the win in 2016. This begs the question, what do I need to improve to to get titles?
