Unfortunate for him. He made it his 80s which is better than most people manage. Best of all to him.

Yeah I agree. It's unfortunately likely the end of the road for him but he lived a long life and got to see a lot. See his kids and grandkids grow up.
Brain cancer is no joke. Worst cancers you can get are brain cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Sad news. Best wishes to him and his family.
explains a lot

My brother is an oncologist. He said probably 3 months for him.
It's much easier to say f'n up our country than to actually see that Obama turned the country around from the very Republican Bush years. We can all see what a disaster this Russian traitor is.
Well, that sucks. Still, it could be worse.
Be interesting to see whom Doug Ducey names to replace McCain (assuming the worst).
Agree. He's a putz.
FAKE NEWS!He has a brain tumor, not cancer.
http://www.differencebetween.net/science/health/disease-health/difference-between-brain-tumor-and-brain-cancer/On Friday, July 14, Sen. John McCain underwent a procedure to remove a blood clot from above his left eye at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix. Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as a glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot.
It looks like, in the photo OP posted, that Sen. McCain has already started gamma knife or some other surgery or radiation. You can see how his head's shape has changed and is now indented. This happened to my father, who had a brain tumor, metastatic from another place.
A glioblastoma is a deadly brain cancer. I'm sorry to hear this. I know he had a melanoma removed from his forehead years ago while in office.
He has a cancerous brain tumor.

Actually, it's the worst kind.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glioblastoma_multiformeGlioblastoma, also known as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), is the most aggressive cancer that begins within the brain.[5] Signs and symptoms of glioblastoma are initially non-specific. They may include headaches, personality changes, nausea, and symptoms similar to those of a stroke.[1] Worsening of symptoms is often rapid. This can progress to unconsciousness.[2]
I thought I heard on the news tonight that there was a treatment (not sure if it was chemo or some other interventions) that could possibly prolong his life to 3-5yrs. Either way, its devastating news but hopefully Mcain's medical team will find some comfort resolutions to his condition.

Huh? Then why would he go full bore with radiation & chemo? Aggressive radiation & chemo at his age would be brutal just to live for 3 months?
good thing the government gives him health insurance.
it's a shame he doesn't think his constituents deserve the same.

It doesn't "give" him insurance, it provides a subsidy (like the large number of USA people on Medicaid, Medicare, Medi-...).
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2017/04/17/do-members-of-congress-pay-for-100-percent-of-their-health-insurance/As of 1 January 2014, Members of Congress (MOC) and Congressional staff purchase their insurance through the District of Columbia’s small business health options program (SHOP) exchange, also known as DC Health Link. Contrary to popular belief, Congressional members do not receive free health care (either directly, or as through 100% insurance). As it does for other federal employees who purchase their insurance through the FEHBP, the federal government provides a subsidy equivalent to 72 percent of the weighted average of all FEHBP premiums.
Sen. John McCain has been diagnosed with brain cancer, CNN reported.
