Hey all, hope training is coming along well! I was MIA last week - work and life got so hectic I decided not to race a 3000 that I was supposed to. Capped off my "season" with a 5k on the road this week instead. Now, will rest a bit.

Race was great. Flat and fast course, but very warm. Good competition, two local 15'00-15'15 guys. Nobody does the 4th of July race here, and instead come out to this one because course is shaded whole way and makes for good times. First mile 4'47 with two others, went right to the front. Wanted to run fast and try and lose people early. Then 9'32 at 2m and had about 8-10seconds on other guys. Didn't get a 3m split, but I figure I was running 4'40 on the back end of the race. Was running scared the last mile waiting to blow up from going out so hard but I just had one of those days where you feel really good (or maybe just got really lucky).
Actually pretty motivated to focus on 5k-half marathon distances now. Think this was probably my last year running any 1500s or miles -- at least on the track. The wear and tear is tough. Also just feels more exciting to try something new and change up the training.
